Koroleth is a night elf leader of the Primalists and one of the two main antagonists in the Ohn'ahran Plains storyline (the other being Balakar Khan). A servant of Raszageth the Storm-Eater,[1] she led a Primalist army to attack the Emerald Gardens and struck an alliance with Clan Nokhud in an attempt to lay claim to the Emerald Dream.

Biography

Koroleth lived with her family in Dolanaar in Teldrassil and had just completed her training to become a Druid of the Talon on the day that the tree burned during the War of the Thorns. Upon learning Teldrassil was on fire, she and her family attempted to evacuate, but the path to Darnassus was cut off by a blaze. Koroleth had an idea and led her family to the east edge of the crown of Teldrassil, where she told them she used her powers over wind to keep them aloft and glide down to the shore below. As they glided down, however, Koroleth was struck by a burning branch, which ignited her clothing and engulfed her in flames. She lost control of her magic, and she and her family plummeted into the ocean. Her sister, Kelestra, was badly wounded, but the rest of her family was not so lucky. Koroleth went missing, and her sister assumed her dead.[2]

Kotori Lightningstride said that he heard she joined the Primalists after the Alliance signed the armistice at the end of the Fourth War. She had sworn vengeance on the Horde for Teldrassil, and if the Alliance would not destroy the Horde, then she would find someone else who would, no matter the cost. She was reportedly exceptionally hard on any Horde races within the Primalist ranks.[3] Years later, shortly after the green dragonflight and their leader Merithra returned to the Emerald Gardens, Koroleth's Primalist army attacked the area in an attempt to reach the portal to the Emerald Dream on the Ancient Bough. As a former druid, she knew more about the Dream and its weaknesses than anyone else. The dragons repelled them repeatedly, and the Primalists knew they needed the centaur's aid to win.[4] Koroleth easily recruited Balakar Khan of Clan Nokhud and introduced them to forbidden storm magic.[5] She also personally visited Timberstep Outpost to try to recruit Sansok Khan of Clan Shikaar. She argued that the dragons (who had been gone for ten thousand years) were invaders on centaur land, and that the Shikaar should accept the strength and aid the Primalists offered. Sansok rejected the offer.[6]

Koroleth accompanied Balakar to the Nokhud encampment in Maruukai for the Khural gathering. Balakar's Ohn'ir advisor, Windsage Garuman, protested against Koroleth's presence. In response, Koroleth egged the khan on into killing the windsage.[7] Koroleth accompanied Balakar when he revealed his alliance with the Primalists to the other centaur and killed the green dragons' emissary Gemisath, starting off a war with the other clans.[8]

Koroleth ordered her subordinate Shela the Windbinder to help the Nokhud attack the Ohn'ir at Ridgewater Retreat and capture their totems and sacred ohuna,[1] which the Primalists then used to create bolts for the Nokhud's dragonkiller ballistae.[9] Meanwhile, Koroleth led the Primalists in an attack on Windsong Rise and used storm magic to imprison Ohn'ahra herself, though she was only able to just barely restrain the Wild God. An adventurer and the Ohn'ir initiate Boku tried to dispel Koroleth's binding runes to free Ohn'ahra, but Koroleth stopped their efforts by knocking them off a cliff with her magic.[10]

Shortly after, Balakar and the Nokhud attacked the Horn of Drusahl.[11] Koroleth brought the captive Ohn'ahra to the Horn and forced her to bless Balakar, allowing him to blow the Horn and lure Merithra and her fellow dragons Gerithus and Solethus into a trap. The Nokhud tried to kill Merithra with a dragonkiller ballista, but Solethus absorbed the bolt instead. Undeterred, Koroleth forced Ohn'ahra to teleport her and Balakar away.[12][13]

Koroleth in combat at the Storm Scar.

With the help of the Nokhud and their ballistae, Koroleth's army broke the Emerald Gardens' defenses,[4] and she led a massive invasion force onto the Storm Scar near the Ancient Bough. Riding a Stormbound Proto-Drake and empowered by magical pylons, she tried to destroy one of the pillars that maintained the magical shield around the Bough. However, the greens allied with the other centaur clans and met the Primalists and Nokhud in battle.[14] The adventurer and the Khanam Matra Sarest helped Merithra destroy the pylons,[15] then engaged Koroleth. The latter was confident that she could still reach the Emerald Dream and drained the strength from her proto-drake to empower herself, but the adventurer and Khanam Matra killed her. With their leader defeated, the remaining Primalists scattered.[16]

After her body was washed out to sea, the tide eventually brought it to the shores of the Ancient Bough, where the remains were recovered by her sister Kelestra.[17] She was buried either within the Barrows of Reverie on Amirdrassil or under a tree on the Ancient Bough, depending on how adventurers advised Malfurion Stormrage.[18]
