The Ohn'ahran Plains (formerly known as the Emerald Plains)[1] are a verdant grassland zone on the Dragon Isles, inhabited by the green dragonflight and the Maruuk Centaur. It is the second zone that players venture through, after the Waking Shores. The region is named for the eagle Wild God Ohn'ahra, who long ago guided Maruuk and Teera centaur to the Dragon Isles. The centaur initially warred with the green flight, but after realizing that they were evenly matched, the two races agreed to share the region, with the green dragons inhabiting the groves while the centaur dominated the plains. However, as the dragons left the isles after the Great Sundering, the centaur have been left to develop their culture in isolation for ten thousand years.[2]
Description
The Ohn'ahran Plains are a verdant region filled with sweeping plateaus, mesas, groves, and valleys abundant with life. Named after the Wild God of the Wind, Ohn'ahra, these plains are a viridescent grassland that rise gently upward from the Waking Shores, with mellow hills and steppes worn smooth by wind and river. This region boasts prominent and dramatic elevations that become more mountainous, and geysers are alive with erupting columns of boiling steam. Once home to the green dragonflight, nature thrives in the Ohn'ahran Plains. Magnificent, lush greenery abounds, and calm waters flow through the Emerald Gardens, an area alive with natural wonder drawn from the magic of the Emerald Dream.
Vast plateaus and mesas are home to the growing clans of centaurs, each a unique culture unto itself and masters of different specialties. The centaur clans are deeply connected to the land, maintaining their traditions, and those seeking to assist can earn their trust. This region is teeming with life. High grasses surround watering holes that draw in large wildlife that provide ample prey for the hungry proto-dragons soaring through the skies.[3]
Geology
The large riverbank[67.2, 46.5] that bends above Cloverwood Hollow feeds into the Waking Shores collects sediment — soft, spongy silt washes up and buries various items in the soil. The layers of silt, buried plant matter, and chilled glacier water causes the banks to be anaerobic, preserving the items within - even those that easily decay, like fabric and wood. Due to large quantities of centaur artifacts being recovered from the area, the locals have dubbed it the "Treasury of the River".[4]
