The Brood of Nithogg are storm dragons who used to be part of the Thorignir. Their leader Nithogg refused to be a puppet of the titan-forged, believing that he would be stronger and more powerful than the Keepers. The brood took residence in the sundered peak of Nastrondir, terrorizing Stormheim.[1] As killers and murderers of the worst sort, they kill their own kin and other races with no mercy or remorse.[2]
Background
Legion
This section concerns content related to Legion.
During the third invasion of the Burning Legion in 32 ADP, the brood began attacking the Blackfeather wildkin tribe. With the help of an adventurer, Chieftain Cukkaw tried to appease the dragons and was able to gather all the requirements.[3] After saving a few of his brethren, Cukkaw proceeded to the Blackfeather Altar, where he and the hero performed the ritual and were able to summon Nithogg. Unfortunately, the storm dragon wasn't impressed and killed the chieftain, leaving his tribe leaderless.[4]
Vethir of the Thorignir eventually sent adventurers to defeat Nithogg.[5]

After the Dragon Isles returned in 40 ADP, Archmage Khadgar wrote a book in which he mentioned that Nithogg and his brood are still active, warning to avoid the area surrounding the mountain of Nastrondir.[6]

Notes
- The brood is ironically validated by the actions of Vyranoth and her liberation of the Thorignir from rule by Odyn and the titan-forged. Despite this, it is unknown if there is any reconciliation to be found between the two broods.
