Hornswog

Hornswogs are frog-like dragonkin native to the Dragon Isles. They are found in water, caves, or areas with volcanic activity.[1]

Hornswog Hollow in the Waking Shores is a nesting ground for hornswog which the Primalists were reshaping with lava,[2] the local black hornswogs didn't seem to mind, however, carefreely bathing in the steaming magma. The Hornswog Grounds in the Forbidden Reach is another such place where the hornswog were hoarding items left behind by the Black dragonflight.[3] A particular fearsome hornswog, the Gulping Goliath, could be found in the Halls of Infusion. Sire to countless generations of hornswogs, the Goliath and his brood thrived upon the unprocessed waters of the wellspring. Driven by an insatiable hunger, he would eagerly devour any creature that strayed too close to his lair.[4] Adventurers can trade copper, silver, and gold Coins of the Isles with The Great Swog in the Roaring Dragonsprings in exchange for sacs of swog treasure.[5]

Hornswog are big hoarders and have a fascination for gems, jewels, and all things shiny. One might even find very rare jewels in some hornswog's droppings.[6] Their hides have a touch of the arcane about them.[7] One can loot magma cores from certain types of hornswog, which are used as a fuel source for centaur forges.

They are also bullies who tend to jump around and eat creatures smaller than them, like flies, beetles, or young salamanthers.[8][9] That doesn't mean they only eat small prey; occasionally adult hornswogs have been observed swallowing something as big as a dolphin.[10]

In combat, hornswogs fight by leaping on their enemies and crushing them with their weight. They will also strike their enemies with their tongue, coating them in sticky saliva, which reduces their mobility.[11]

Young hornswogs are called swoglets. They often leave their spawning groups as soon as they can move around on land.[12] They are known to eat bugs almost as large as they are[13] and the color of the bug they eat might even affect their skin coloration.[14] Swoglets are hypoallergenic, which makes them great pets for people who suffer from allergies.[15] The reverberating sound of an adult hornswog's belch can be heard for leagues. Less far-reaching, but far more musical, is the dainty sound of a swoglet belching.[16]

Hornswogs sometimes have mates of the same sex, as in the case of Beef and Wellington. They can be stressed if away from their mates.[17]

[Charred Hornswog Steaks] are a favorite djaradin dish, while dragonkin in Valdrakken and other dragon towns and outposts prefer Seasoned Hornswog Steak instead. Hornswog meat is also an ingredient in dishes such as Breakfast of Draconic Champions and Gral's Reverence.
