Founded by Ximothy after his previous guild, the Deathwatch, was destroyed by his own hand and to the wrath of the Fearhowl Pack he intended to create a guild more focused on gaining power and keeping over watch over himself. Inspired in part by the Black Harvest, which he was a member of, he did still want control over the guild and truly only trusted Mayleen, and Tooshly to a lesser extent. The Torchlight Archive is a secret base of operations nestled somewhere in Lordaeron.

Each member is allowed their personal aligences, Ximothy himself still believed in creating a strong future for the Forsaken inspite of Sylvanas and her actions, though the Ka Ankh itself is expected to remain seperate from the conflict between the Alliance and Horde as Ximothy was sick of the conflict. He abides by these rules too, not using Ka Ankh resources when aiding the Forsaken in reclaiming the Ruins of Lordaeron for his people. Instead the members work together on protects and joint ventures to expand their own powers and knowledge, and they do not hold ethics in any particular regard as more cruel and inhumane experiments are premited as long as it doesn't draw unwanted attention.

Brief History

During the Legion War Ximothy's crimes came to confront him as several enemies he's made teamed up and confronted the warlock on Argus, ruining his plan for the Felwrought Engine, killing several of his followers and getting him banished into the Twisting Nether alongside Mayleen, a Shadow Priestess friend and ally of his. Within the Nether he and the elf managed to survive and worked to make their way back, with Ximothy officially taking Mayleen as a Warlock student and taught her much but not all of what he knows. They lost track of time but from their point of view it was a few years yet when they returned to Azeroth only a few months passed since the end of the Legion invasion and beginning of the Fourth War, which he learnt to his dismay also included the loss of the Undercity. Mayleen left to study these Void Elves and find her own path away from the warlock while Sylvanas saw the returned Warlock as an unknown. She sent Ximothy's own guild he founded, Deathwatch, to test his loyalty and kill him if needed. Ximothy saw that his guild went from one devoted to building a future for the Forsaken to a secret police force Sylvanas used to keep Horde guilds in line and attack Alliance guilds. He resolved to destroy his own creation.

Knowing he lacked the allies to personally take on the guild, few trust him and he lost most of his disciples on Argus, he managed to cash in few favours and got the promises of Mayleen, Barrus Hellforged and Shadowmage Neth to aid him. The real enforcers will be the Fearhowl Pack, albiet unwittingly, who were desperate to get vengeance on Deathwatch. That includes Ximothy himself so he was careful in setting up the bread crumb trail to lead the Fearhowl to Deathwatch at a meeting point within the swamps of Nazmir. Ximothy was able to lure his old guild into a compromising position and the Fearhowl ambushed them. The new leader of Deathwatch, Dark Ranger Echosong, figured Ximothy lure them here and confronted him yet his allies were able to save Ximothy and the warlock engulfed the ranger in a fel explosion that he believes killed her. With this he resolved to begin again and invited the dark sorcerers that joined him to form a new order; one he called the Ka Ankh.

It took a few months however the four of them established connections and ties across Azeroth, with Barrus getting some well paid Dark Irons to build Torchlight Archive in a hidden location. Ximothy sought out new members, recruiting some more minor mage and warlocks adventurers before seeking one Rosy Soul-Tinker, a gnomish warlock who was a former student of Ximothy's mentor Tooshly Geardazzle, however Ximothy realised that Rosy had the soul of mentor who had been in a coma since the Cataclysm. Mayleen and Barrus broke into the medical facility the body of Tooshly was in and stole him away. The body was deemed too weak to restore the soul to, becoming withered. The two head to Mechagon to get the body 'fixed' by the Mechagnomes there and once the body was ready it was brought to Torchlight. Ximothy infused the soul back into the body and Tooshly awoke, dazed and disoriented. It took weeks for the mage to calm down and recuperate, however he mentally never fully recovered and became more megolamatic and unstable which Ximothy found somewhat upsetting as he was no longer the stern but kind mentor. Still Tooshly did retain his memories and he joined the Ka Ankh, becoming one of the leaders of the guild.

Another member of the Ka Ankh would come from Zandalar; the Dark Shaman Leizaru. A former follower of Zul he had fought on Pandaria and the Isle of Thunder during Zandalari War before returning to Zandalar and joining the Atal'Zul, converting to worshipping G'huun. However after the deaths of Lei Shen and Zul he grew disinterested with these powerful leaders and sought more power for himself, refusing to serve the elements anymore and treading the path of a Dark Shaman. Neth and Ximothy would meet the shaman during the Scourge invasions across Azeroth in combating the Scourge. Leizaru initially was not interested in joining such a guild as he refused to serve anyone including Ximothy however he would come around after seeing the Shadowmage and Warlock fight the Scourge. Brought to the Archive Leizaru investigated what knowledge they had acquired in the two years since it was founded and agreed to join the order, though did make it clear whether or not he follows orders is situation dependent. Ximothy was more interested in the experiences this Dark Shaman had to offer to the order so he would over look these incidents.

Mayleen was the official second in command, though Barrus, Neth, Tooshly and Leizaru serve as lieutenants of his. There are a few dozen other members, none outside of those previously mentioned five actually know the location of the Torchlight Archive.
