The Dreadwake

The Dreadwake is a pirate ship mount. It is available from the Trading Post for 800 [Trader's Tender], first appearing in April 2024.

True to nautical tradition, the Dreadwake pirate ship mount has a unique figurehead inspired by an unknown kraken-faced god of the deeps. It's the perfect way to cruise through Azeroth in true buccaneering style.[1]

History

This item was originally part of a game time bundle promotion in September 2018 in celebration of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which granted the mount with the purchase of 180 days of game time. Players who had already purchased the 180 days of game time service within the 30 days prior to 19 September 2018 (approx 19 August 2018, and after), or currently had a 6-month recurring subscription, also automatically received the mount at no additional charge. The offer lasted up until 21 October 2018, and the mount could be claimed from the Battle.net desktop app (gift box icon in the upper right-hand corner of the launcher) or from Blizzard's website (accessible from the Account drop-down menu) until 30 April 2019. Future game time bundles continued as the 6-Month Subscription Bundle.

As planned,[1] it was added to the Battle.net Shop and In-Game Shop by itself on 23 April 2019 for $25 or €25.[2]

It was removed from the store on 17 September 2023.[3]

Notes and trivia

  • Like most current mounts, it is account-wide.
  • It is a flying mount, with its speed based on the riding skill of the character using it.
  • Wing spars on the sides enable navigation during flight.
  • It makes a unique bell toll when mounting, appears/disappears with a splash of water and /mountspecial causes the Dreadwake to move back a couple yards and fire twice from its forward double cannons.
  • It was announced alongside the parrot companion  [Cap'n Crackers] in a video.[1]
  • It uses the same model skeleton as the  [Stormwind Skychaser].
  • The kraken-faced god is likely a reference to N'Zoth.
