Achievement and quest rewards
Vicious mounts
Vicious mounts are obtained by winning rated PvP matches while at Combatant rank (1000 rating) or higher; progress is tracked via the Season Rewards bar in the Rated tab of the PvP interface. The current season's mount is earned by filling the progress bar once. A [Vicious Saddle] is earned for each additional time the bar is filled within the same season.
Necrolord Sipe in Stormwind City and Deathguard Netharian in Orgrimmar sell previous expansions' mounts at a cost of 1 each. Mounts from previous seasons within the current expansion cannot be purchased, making them temporarily unobtainable.
Patch changes
- Hotfix (2021-05-05): The rating requirement to earn progress for the seasonal vicious mount has been lowered to 1000 (was 1400).
- Patch 8.1.0 (2018-12-11): With the start of Battle for Azeroth Season 2, [Vicious Saddles] can now be obtained by filling the Rated PvP progress bar more than once within a season.
- Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17):
- A vicious mount is now added with every PvP season. The current season's mount is obtained by filling a progress bar, and cannot be purchased with a Vicious Saddle until later.
- New seasonal achievements are no longer added. As a result, Vicious Saddles can only be obtained from the per-character "Veteran of the Alliance/Horde" achievements.
- Patch 7.2.0 (2017-03-28): Vicious mounts are now account-wide.
- Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): Vicious Saddle added. This item is earned through seasonal achievements (e.g. [Grievous Combatant]) and can be used to purchase any vicious mount.
- The achievements could not be completed multiple times on a single character, but since the mounts were account-bound, alt characters could be used to obtain additional saddles, purchase mounts, and then send the mounts to a main character.

- Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): Vicious War Steed and Vicious War Wolf added.
- These mounts were not account-wide, but were account-bound (could be sent to other characters on the same account). Presumably for this reason, they were tied to three different "Veteran of the Alliance/Horde" achievements, allowing multiple copies of them to be obtained.
