The Black War Ram is a PvP mount that can be purchased for 15 Mark of Honor from Lieutenant Karter outside the Champions' Hall in Stormwind City.

In Classic Era, players with a PvP rank of Commander or higher can purchase this mount for 100g from Lieutenant Karter in Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, or Warsong Gulch.

The dwarves value their ram companions for their fearlessness charging into battle.

Patch changes

  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now requires level 17 (was 40) and Apprentice Riding (was Journeyman Riding for rams obtained after patch 2.0) to learn.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now costs 15 Mark of Honor.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now costs 2,000 Honor Points.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.3.3 (2010-03-23): Now costs 50,000 Honor Points (was 30 Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor 30 Arathi Basin Mark of Honor 30 Alterac Valley Mark of Honor).
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.2.0 (2009-08-04): Now requires level 40 (was 60, or 55 for rams obtained before patch 2.0).
  • Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05):
    • Now requires level 60 and Journeyman Riding to use. Previously obtained rams are unchanged.
    • No longer requires a PvP rank of Commander or higher to purchase.
    • Now costs 30 Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor 30 Arathi Basin Mark of Honor 30 Alterac Valley Mark of Honor (was 100g).
  • World of Warcraft Patch 1.12.1 (2006-09-26): Now requires level 55 and Apprentice Riding (was level 40 and Ram Riding).
  • World of Warcraft Patch 1.4.0 (2005-04-19): Added.
