History

As a cub.

Rexxar traveling through Feralas found her as a small cub at the Ruins of Ravenwind, next to her dead mother. Seeing as they both were alone, Rexxar took the cub with him and named her Misha, heading to Desolace.[1]

Rexxar's trusted companion, Misha is a bear who will fight at Rexxar's side whenever she is called upon. Misha battles ferociously, and loyally follows Rexxar to every location he travels to. Rexxar is very protective of Misha when they enter civilized areas, and ensures that the bear stays close to him.

Misha accompanied her master in the aftermath of the Third War in the battles of Kalimdor against Daelin Proudmoore.[2] Years later, Misha found the body of an orc named Byrok. She carried him on her back to Orgrimmar.[3]

She was later seen by her master's side in the Stonetalon Mountains, Desolace, and Feralas. Misha accompanied Rexxar through the Dark Portal to Outland and could be found in the Thunderlord Stronghold in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

Misha continues to follow her master on the Broken Isles during the Burning Legion's third invasion of Azeroth. When Rexxar is assigned as a Combat Ally, Misha can be summoned to accompany them. She is also briefly seen in Undercity at a ceremony hosted by Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner.

Though traditionally by her master's side during the war against the Alliance, Misha wasn't part of Rexxar's mission to break out Lady Priscilla Ashvane out of her prison.[4]

After the Fourth War, Misha accompanied Rexxar and Zekhan on their mission in Kalimdor.[5]

Misha accompanied Rexxar to the first Kosh'harg held on Azeroth at Razor Hill, where she can be petted.[6] Sometime following the festival, Misha traveled with her master to Toghusuq Village in the Ohn'ahran Plains, where she reunited her master's old traveling companions Rokhan and Chen Stormstout.

She loyally followed Rexxar into battle to help defend the Emerald Dream and Amirdrassil from Fyrakk the Blazing at the Furnace Coil.[7]

Trivia

  • In Tiragarde Sound, Misha's generic name is Tamed Bear.
  • Except for the first two cinematics in the bonus campaign in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Misha goes unacknowledged by everyone throughout the campaign.
  • Misha is a diminutive of Russian male name Mikhail (a Russian variant for Michael) which usually was given to bear characters in fairy tales, perhaps because of its similarity to medved (bear in Russian).
    • Interestingly, in the Russian version of Frozen Throne, Misha's name was omitted in dialogue.
