This page covers the various editions for each game and expansion that was released and the contents that were provided with them.

The War Within The War Within

World of Warcraft: The War Within was pre-released in three distinct all-digital editions and one physical edition⁠—the base edition, the heroic edition, the epic edition, and the collector's edition.

On 3 November 2023, the pre-orders for this expansion were made available along with the expansion's announcement at BlizzCon 2023, allowing customers to acquire any of the three digital editions and immediately obtaining their in-game goodies included, as well as the ability to upgrade the lower ones at a later time paying the difference. The pre-orders also included the license for Dragonflight.[1]

The Collector's Edition was announced and made available for pre-order on 17 April 2024.[2]

  1. ^ Purchasing the base edition or heroic edition and then upgrading to a higher edition will only provide any amount missing of the max 1,000. This works the same with the Collector's Edition as it provides the Epic Edition.

Cataclysm Cataclysm Classic

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic was pre-released in two optional all-digital editions⁠—the Heroic Upgrade and the Epic Upgrade. Both editions were made available for purchase on 3 November 2023, the same day it was announced at BlizzCon 2023.[3]

Dragonflight Dragonflight

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was pre-released in 3 distinct all-digital editions⁠ and one physical edition—the base edition, the heroic edition, the epic edition⁠, and the collector's edition.

On 21 June 2022, the pre-orders for this expansion were announced, allowing customers to acquire any of the three digital editions and immediately obtaining their in-game goodies included, as well as the ability to upgrade the lower ones at a later time paying the difference. The Collector's Edition would ship closer to the expansion's release date.[4]

With the release of the Trading Post in patch 10.0.5, players who owned an edition of Dragonflight were given 500 [Trader's Tender] via the  [Trading Post: Dragonflight]. Despite The War Within pre-orders also providing Dragonflight with it, the achievement has since become unobtainable.

Shadowlands Shadowlands

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was pre-released in 3 distinct all-digital editions⁠—the base edition, the heroic edition, and the epic edition⁠—later adding the collector's edition, the only physical one.

On 1 November 2019, the pre-orders for this expansion were announced,[7] allowing customers to acquire any of the three digital editions and immediately obtaining their in-game goodies included, as well as the ability to upgrade the lower ones at a later time paying the difference. The Collector's Edition was announced on 8 July 2020,[8] to be later in August 27 confirmed that this would be the first Collector's Edition to be shipped earlier to the release, in October 13; this shipping wasn't affected by the release delay[9][10] and was effectively done in the announced date. The Collector's Edition would provide the ability to have the initial digital edition purchase (not subsequent upgrades) reimbursed in Blizzard Balance in the customer's account up until 31 March 2021.

Battle for Azeroth Battle for Azeroth

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth was released in four distinct editions - the digital standard edition, the standard edition, digital deluxe edition, and collector's edition. Physical editions since Battle for Azeroth no longer includes a game disc for installation, only a license key. This was also done to the soundtrack, providing a key to download the soundtrack from a temporary website.

Announced on Battle.net on 30 January 2018[11] (the Collector's Edition announced on 5 April 2018),[12] with the possibility to pre-order them starting that day. The three editions are:

  • Standard Edition, featuring the physical (or digital) copy of the game - $49.99 USD
  • Digital Deluxe, featuring additional digital content and has, therefore, a higher price - $69.99 USD
  • Collector's Edition, featuring additional digital content and physical goodies and has, therefore, the highest price - $99.99 USD

Legion Legion

World of Warcraft: Legion was released in four distinct editions - the digital standard edition, the standard edition, digital deluxe, and collector's edition.

Announced on Battle.net on November 6, 2015, with the possibility to pre-order them starting that day. The three editions are:

  • Standard Edition, featuring the physical copy of the game - $49.99 USD
  • Digital deluxe, featuring additional digital content and has, therefore, a higher price - $69.99 USD
  • Collector's Edition, featuring additional digital content and physical goodies and has, therefore, the highest price - $89.99 USD

Warlords of Draenor Warlords of Draenor

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor was released in three distinct editions - the standard edition, digital deluxe edition, and collector's edition.

Announced on Battle.net on September 18, 2014, with the possibility to pre-order them starting that day. The three editions are:

  • Standard Edition, featuring the physical copy of the game - $50 USD
  • Digital deluxe, featuring additional digital content and has, therefore, a higher price - $70 USD
  • Collector's Edition, featuring additional digital content and physical goodies and has, therefore, the highest price - $70 USD

In mid-2016, Warlords of Draenor would be added to the existing World of Warcraft Package.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was released in three distinct editions - the standard edition, digital deluxe edition, and collector's edition. The digital deluxe edition was introduced with this expansion and would be used for future expansions.

Announced on Battle.net on 25 July 2012, with the possibility to pre-order them starting that day. The three editions are:

  • Standard Edition, featuring the physical copy of the game - $39.99 USD
  • Digital deluxe, featuring additional digital content and has, therefore, a higher price - $59.99 USD
  • Collector's Edition, featuring additional digital content and physical goodies and has, therefore, the highest price - $79.99 USD

On 14 October 2014, Mists of Pandaria would be added to the existing World of Warcraft Package.

On 15 October 2013, Blizzard rebranded and released the sixth battle chest as the World of Warcraft Package with Cataclysm included.

On 30 October 2007, Blizzard released the fourth battle chest with World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade included. This battle chest would later be revised on 28 June 2011 to include a Beginner's Guide book.

Warcraft III

Warcraft III was released in four distinct editions - the demo edition, standard edition, the expansion's standard edition, and the collector's edition.

On 11 October 2002, Blizzard released the first and only exclusive gift set featuring Warcraft III that also came with a copy of Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition. On 19 September 2003, Blizzard released the third battle chest featuring Warcraft III and its expansion.

Warcraft II

Warcraft II was released in five distinct editions - the shareware edition, standard edition, expansion's standard edition, The Dark Saga, and the Battle.net Edition.

In December 1999, the Battle Chest included Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition along with its related Prima Guide.

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was released in two distinct editions - the demo edition and the standard edition.

In 1996, Blizzard released the first battle chest with Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II included.
