World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic (shortened as BC Classic or BCC and often called TBC Classic) was a server option for The Burning Crusade. It was transitioned to Wrath of the Lich King Classic on 30 August 2022.
Release timeline
Like with World of Warcraft: Classic, content in Burning Crusade Classic was released in phases. This is the release timeline over the lifespan of Burning Crusade Classic:
16 February 2021: Announced at BlizzConline along with its content phases
3 March 2021: Closed Alpha was released
23 March 2021: Closed Beta was released
6 May 2021: Release Date Announced as 1 June 2021
18 May 2021: Pre-Patch released which unlocked the Draenei & Blood Elf races
To better balance both factions. Overall, [Seal of Blood] just deals more damage and it's a big incentive to roll Horde over Alliance.
Players will be able to create draenei and blood elf characters during the pre-patch and level them before the Dark Portal opens.[2]
Players were not able to create characters of the new races until Outland was open.
To avoid players that want to play with characters of the new races to be stuck in the old world during the first weeks of progression. This also makes paladins and shaman available to the other faction during launch.
Arena teams will be able to hold double the normal amount of players.
Arena teams were only able to hold enough players for their bracket (e.g. a 2v2 Arena team could only have two players).
To give more flexibility to PvPers, as this system made it impossible to play if one of the members didn't log in.
Throughout Burning Crusade Classic, using Leatherworking drums will invoke the [Tinnitus] debuff, preventing reuse for two minutes.[3]
Groups could use drums in sequence, benefiting from a higher uptime the more leatherworkers they had.
To avoid making Leatherworking "mandatory" on raids. This change brings the optimal number of leatherworkers per raid to one per group.
Originally, players were given the option of continuing to play in World of Warcraft: Classic or transitioning their characters over to Burning Crusade Classic on the new expansion servers. Additionally, players who chose to remain on Classic servers could create a copy of their character on BC Classic for an additional fee and continue playing on both servers. The option to purchase a character copy remained for most of BC Classic, being removed only a month before the BC Classic servers were updated to Wrath of the Lich King Classic.[4]
