Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible is the second raid in Dragonflight, added in patch 10.1.0. Hidden beneath the Obsidian Citadel, it is a massive laboratory in Zaralek Cavern where Neltharion's most horrid creations were made, including the dracthyr.

Getting there

Aberrus is located at the northern end of Zaralek Cavern, at the Aberrus Approach. Dragonride from Valdrakken through Iridikron's Gambit at ^[88, 29] on the border between Ohn'ahran Plains and Thaldraszus. Bear north once the tunnel opens up into the greater cavern to reach the approach, instance line, and summoning stone.

Players are breadcrumbed to the raid via the final quest in chapter five of the Embers of Neltharion campaign:  [70R] Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: Sarkareth.

Adventure Guide

Millennia ago, Neltharion established Aberrus, a secret laboratory where he conducted world altering experiments. Recently rediscovered, Aberrus is now under attack from all sides as forces seeking to claim the Earth-Warder's legacy search for any power that remains. The champions of Azeroth must venture into the shadows and ensure Neltharion's dark power doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Encounters

The nine boss encounters are divided into four wings, which, on raid finder difficulty, open on a two-week cycle.

The Discarded Works

Neglected for millenia^[sic], Neltharion's crations have twisted into something monstrous.

Kazzara, the Hellforged

Before Deathwing, there were many attempts to infuse a subject with Shadowflame. The only one that survived was Kazzara. Driven mad by the excruciating pain inflicted by her elementium plates, she now serves as the ferocious guardian of the Shadowed Crucible.

The Amalgamation Chamber

The creation of Shadowflame destroyed countless elementals. Now only the strongest remain, Krozgoth and Moltannia. One of shadow, the other fire, these powerful elementals combine their powers to create a force of ultimate destruction.

The Forgotten Experiments

On the road to develop dracthyr there were many failures. Some of these early versions were too volatile to destroy, and instead kept dormant to protect the world from their brutality. Now they awaken to test their prowess against the champions of Azeroth.

Fury of Giants

The Zaqali warband has launched a devastating assault on the crucible in order to destroy anything in their path.

Assault of the Zaqali

Warlord Kagni leads the Zaqali warband against the crucible. Brutal and Ruthless, Kagni is willing to employ any tactic in order to win.

Rashok, the Elder

Rashok, once a great leader of the Zaqali, was imprisoned within these halls for millennia. His molten blood constantly siphoned to power the crucible, the elder was kept on the brink of death driving him mad. Due to the recent chaos, Rashok has broken his restraints and seeks revenge on any that cross his path.

The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn

Zskarn walked these halls when they were first formed and bore witness to Neltharion's many profound experiments. Now that the crucible stirs with power once more, Zskarn will stop at nothing to claim the crucible and continue his master's legacy.

Neltharion's Shadow

Something stirs in the dark... it once corrupted the Earth-Warder, and now it is eager to claim new victims.

Magmorax

Its eyes never close. Its will never breaks. Magmorax, the beast of legend, guards the passage into the deepest chambers of the Shadowed Crucible.

Echo of Neltharion

Before the name Deathwing was whispered in terror, Neltharion was known as the Earth-Warder. During this time, the Aspect of Earth used his power to construct a massive hall deep beneath the surface where he accumulated secret knowledge. A visage of the black dragon still resides within the crucible, waiting for an opportunity to continue the work started so long ago... at any cost.

Edge of the Void

Sarkareth stands at the edge of the ahvssl seeking to harness Neltharion's power and claim the former Earth-Warder's legacy.

Scalecommander Sarkareth

Formerly one of the five Scalecommanders of the dracthyr, Sarkareth broke away to rebel against the dragonflights. Now leader of the Sundered Flame, Sarkareth leads an army into Neltharion's Shadowed Crucible to claim the power within and use it to overthrow the aspects.

An in-engine cutscene plays:

Sarkareth's chamber. Sarkareth is on his hands and knees, catching his breath as the last of the void smoke leaves his body.

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: I was... your loyal soldier, father.

He looks up and focuses on the crack in the wall...

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: Did I not... uphold your legacy?

and weakly reaches out his right hand toward it.

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: Was it all just... an illusion?

The camera cuts to Wrathion's face looking down at Sarkareth. Wrathion spares a quick glance in Sabellian's direction.

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: Empty... promises...

The camera cuts again to Sabellian, who glances back at Wrathion. They both have unsure looks on their faces.

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: leading us only...

The camera cuts back to Sarkareth has he breathes his last and collapses.

Scalecommander Sarkareth says: to oblivion...

Then pulls away, looking down on Wrathion and Sabellian, silently watching.
