An ottuk.

Ottuks are a species of large, tusked otters native to the Dragon Isles. They act as hunting companions and mounts of the tuskarr of the Isles, who regard them not as pets, but as friends and family members. Hunters of the Uktulut tribe hold the bond between a tuskarr and their ottuk to be sacred.[1]

Ottuks can be tamed as hunter pets after completing N [70] While the Iron Is Hot with any character on the same account. They're part of the rodent family.

Trivia

  • A group of ottuks is called a raft.[2]
  • According to a tuskarr children's story, a mammoth calf gave her tusks to an ottuk out of gratitude for his kindness: Even while other animals jeered at the mammoth, the ottuk invited her to play and encouraged her. After that, the two were always friends.[3]
  • Ottuks were designed by Character Artist Natacha Nielsen. Nielsen got hired by Blizzard after submitting a winning entry to the 2017 World of Warcraft Student Art Contest in the form of a model for an otter mount, and over the following years many people asked her to add an otter mount to the game. She felt that Dragonflight was the perfect opportunity to do so.[4]
