Ricket is a goblin located at K3 in the Storm Peaks. She later appears in Deepholm, Mount Hyjal, and the Molten Front. As with most goblins, she appears to be an engineer or inventor and likes explosive devices and explosions. Since the Fourth War, she has been working with Gazlowe and his Greasemonkeys.

Background

At some point, Ricket visited Ratchet in the Barrens and met Chief Engineer Foote who told her a tale about the creator of Blingtron. She shared the tale with her cousin Fuselage.[1]

In the Storm Peaks.

During the war against the Lich King, Ricket was in K3 in the Storm Peaks. At some point, Ricket fueled Jeer Sparksocket's rocket sled and got a little excited. She also asked him to put together some stronger land mines.[2]

More importantly, she was troubled by Savage Hill gnoll thieves, so she singled out their leader, Gnarlhide, and sent adventurers to kill him[3] as well as to get the gnolls' rations from their camps.[4] When she tried the food, she didn't like it at all, so she devised an alternative - to take Tore Rumblewrench's explosives, throw it at mammoths, and then collect their meat.[5] As K3's sapper squad prepared for an attack on Garm, Ricket sent a runner to set a teleporter up behind, but the runner returned to her for a power cell, which wasn't delivered where it was needed, so Ricket sent the adventurer to find the cell and activate the teleporter on the other side of Garm's Bane.[6] Once the teleported was activated, she directed the adventurer to take the fight to the magnataur and snobolds, with sappers backing them up.[7] This was only one leg of the offensive, the other required the requested land mines from Jeer. After he created them, the adventurer gave them to her.[8] She then witnessed how the adventurer used the mines at the magnataur and snobolds, thwarting their effort to take K3.[9]

After a successful and explosive assault on the magnataur, she appreciated the adventurer's help.[10] She knew the goblins couldn't get further into the Storm Peaks, but she let the adventurer use a rocket and proceed there.[11] Despite their effort against the magnataur, they still remained a threat and asked adventurers to further thin their numbers.[12] After rescuing an Injured Goblin Miner, she went to prepare a venom antidote for them.[13]

Cataclysm

Cata-Logo-Small.png This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

After the Cataclysm, Ricket entered Deepholm and went to the Crumbling Depths. She was interested in the cave's crystals as Therazane's elementals paid for them. As such, she gave an adventurer her explosives to blow out chunks from the bigger formations. She had a deal with D'lom the Collector who traded the gold he got from adventurers for the crystals she gathered.[14]

As the war against Ragnaros and his fire elementals progressed, Ricket came to Mount Hyjal. At the Sanctuary of Malorne, she met and worked with Damek Bloombeard. When the druids of the Guardians of Hyjal entered the Molten Front, Damek went inside, but Ricket stayed at the sanctuary, much to Choluna's concerns. Over time, Damek realized that he needed Ricket to deal real damage to the fire elementals. Sending an adventurer, they asked Choluna for Ricket, only for the goblin to crash-land with a rocket near the tauren druid at that moment. Choluna informed her of her requested presence on the Molten Front, and Ricket was eager to use her explosive devices against the enemies.[15]

She then reunited with Damek at Malfurion's Breach and was glad to be working with him on new toys to be used against the fire elementals.[16] This included using her large bomb at a large worm.[17] When she saw a fireball fall out of the sky and crash, she noticed it was made of pure Living Obsidium, which she could use to create armor and weapons, so she had the collected and delivered to Damek.[18] Darmek gave Ricket his trusty harpoon, and she accompanied the druids into the field. In the Forlorn Spire, she and her team came under attack from fire hawks. She gave the harpoon to the adventurer who then killed several of the hawks.[19] At the Furnace, she requested to gather more obsidium from Fireplume Peak.[20]

Warlords of Draenor

During the war in Draenor, Ricket appeared briefly during the construction of Beastwatch in Gorgrond, entering with Durotan's group,[21] but does not appear in the outpost after this.

Legion

During the third invasion of the Burning Legion, adventuring engineers, sent by Didi the Wrench, visited her in K3 during their search for the creator of the Blingtron. She told a portion of the legend and directed them to Chief Engineer Foote.[1]

Battle for Azeroth

On Mechagon Island.

During the Fourth War, Ricket worked with Uraka Wildthunder in Dazar'alor on an Experimental Warboat. She put a Bilgewater Cartel banner on it so that everyone knew who masterminded the inventions on the warboat. She was on Skaggit's list to be brought on the Gazlowe's Greasemonkeys expedition to Mechagon Island. When she was informed about it, she went to Gazlowe and Skaggit in the Port of Zandalar and had the Greasy Eel submarine brought to be used for the expedition.[22] She and the other goblins boarded the submarine and traveled to the location of Mechagon.[23]

When they approached Prospectus Bay, she commented the isle didn't look much. As they flew inland, she immediately took the opportunity to bomb hostile bots on the beach, securing a landing area for the team. They were met with Mechagon mechagnomes.[24] Gazlowe took Ricket with him to accompany him to the mechagnomes' nearby settlement of Rustbolt. They entered the town and met with Prince Erazmin who explained what was happening on the isle.[25] Afterward, she sent word to her cousin, Fuselage, who joined her in the town. He began working on weapons to use against King Mechagon. Ricket assisted him in building it, commenting on the process.[26] When Pascal sent an adventurer to find a new idea, they spoke with Ricket among others. She offered several ideas.[27] She continued working at her usual spot when the heroes went to confront King Mechagon.

The War Within

Some time after Dalaran's destruction on the Isle of Dorn, Ricket was drawn to a mysterious isle near Dorn and found a crystal. She then traveled to Dornogal and spoke with Skaggit about her discovery and how to proceed next.

Ricket provided the necessary data to Skaggit, returned to the Siren Isle, and could be found at Flotsam Shoal. When she suggested digging up the crystal, she got an earful from the Arathi.[28]

In the Molten Front

Completing N [32-35] Additional Armaments unlocks Ricket as a quest giver in the Molten Front where she is one of many NPCs that give daily quests that reward [Mark of the World Tree]. She will appear on different locations and give different dailies depending on her location. She will only give one daily quest each day.

Apparently, if she doesn't give a daily at her location at Malfurion's Breach, it means she'll offer one for the Furnace or the Forlorn Spire instead. To unlock these locations, the player will have to complete N [32-35 Daily] Into the Fire and N [32-35 Daily] The Forlorn Spire (it's only possible to complete one of them each day).

K3

Hello, peach - good to have your company!

Malfurion's Breach, Molten Front

My, it sure is hot down here. I didn't even need to bring my own forge.

Furnace, Molten Front

That island over there is full of Obsidium creatures! I'd go over there myself, but I can't get across the bridge.

Rustbolt

Finally, gnomes I can respect!

These mechagnomes can make somethin' outta nothin' in 10 seconds flat... and look good doin' it!

<Ricket winks at a nearby mechagnome.>

I think I'm gonna like it here.

Siren Isle

Well, if it ain't my favorite adventurer!

How ya doin', hon?

  • Buy Repairs
  • Gossip How do you feel about the Siren Isle?

The isle? Honestly, it's pretty spooky if ya ask me.

When my crew and I found it, the whole island felt so... still. Like it was wait'n for somethin'. I mean, sure there was a storm come'n in but the level of calm just felt unnatural. I dunno how else to explain it.

<Ricket shivers and rubs her arm.>

But hey, it's better now that you're here!

Dialogue

Main article: Only the Best Will Do#Notes
Conversation with Skaggit in Dornogal
Ricket says: I'm telling ya, Skaggit. Somethin' called us from across the water. But when we arrived, it...it was eerie. Abandoned.
Skaggit says: Abandoned? Then there was no one on the end of this "call"?
Ricket says: Nope. Nobody. Zip. There was nothin' there but some big crystal.
Skaggit says: Crystal? Like a valuable crystal? At an abandoned mine? Ricky, you're KILLIN' me. Why didn't ya nab some of it?
Ricket says: Hey, clouds were rollin' in and my gang was already on edge. We looked around then booked it outta there.
Skaggit mutters under his breath.
Skaggit says: If ya heard it loud an' clear out to sea, I'm sure you're not the only one. We better get back out there fast if we want that crystal.
Ricket says: I heard Gazlowe's gettin' us a zeppelin--certainly faster than a boat! But that's gonna take awhile. You reckon I should reach out to the Greasemonkeys?
Skaggit says: Do it. See if we can get out there faster.

Dalaran
Good choice! Make sure to use it before you hit the ground. It's not much help after that.

On-click

Greetings
  • Caught me in a good time!
  • You need something built?
  • Good to have you company!
  • Always got time for you, hon.
Farewell
  • That's that, huh.
  • Yeah, I was done anyway.
  • See you, hon.
  • Don't be a stranger.
Angry
  • Well, ain't you a sassy little sprocket!

Notes

  • She shows signs of delusions of grandeur and self-love. She described herself as "sooo delicious",[3] considered blowing up mammoths with dynamites to get their meat as a brilliant plan and asked the adventurer if "it is good to be in the presence of greatness",[5] joked about her complex plan with several facets,[7] and mentions that she was "basking in the awesomeness that is me."[9]
  • Ricket's mount is a mechanical scorpion.[25]
  • Ricket was in the Chamber of the Guardian in Dalaran and sold Goblin Glider Kits near the portal to Dalaran Crater for 10g each. She was removed from Dalaran in an undocumented hotfix, which also moved the Dalaran Crater exit point closer to the ground so that players would no longer suffer fatal fall damage. (The mage portal to Dalaran Crater remains unaffected and thus can still result in your death.)
  • A version of Ricket can be briefly seen in Gorgrond following the quest H [15-40] Just Another Stick in the Wall[29] but is not seen elsewhere in the expansion. This could indicate that Penny Clobberbottom was originally meant to be Ricket, giving the player a familiar follower rather than a new character.
  • Despite receiving unique on-click voice lines in Battle for Azeroth, the version of Ricket in K3 continues to use generic goblin voice lines.

Speculation

Questionmark-medium.png
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

Ricket putting a Bilgewater Cartel flag on the experimental warboat may mean that she joined the Bilgewater Cartel and the Horde or that she was just hired by the Bilgewaters or Gazlowe's Greasemonkeys to help upgrade the boat. It's also worth noting that she is unfriendly to the Alliance on Mechagon Island.
