History

She is the daughter of Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver, a member of the Council of Six. Tired of a "boring life, reading over musty books and associating with grey-haired, stiff-backed, stuffy mages," she decided to join the Blackwater Raiders as a pirate. She eventually became the captain of the raider ship Neptulon's Bride. She was previously in a relationship with "Pretty Boy" Duncan, but ended it after discovering he was with the Bloodsails. He stole her knife as revenge and she sent adventurers to get it back.[4]

Quest for Pandaria

Catelyn had a debt to the Steamwheedle Cartel and stole the Pearl of Pandaria from Li Li in order to use it to pay the debt. Later, Chen and Li Li fought her crew to get the Pearl back. Catelyn herself attacked Li Li, but the little pandaren disarmed her. Meanwhile, Bloodsail Buccaneers attacked Booty Bay and Catelyn ordered her crew to leave the harbor. After leaving Booty Bay, the Neptulon's Bride was ambushed by Bloodsail ships, commanded by draenei Captain Koslov. Chen, Li Li, and Catelyn fought side by side against pirates but were outnumbered. Captain Koslov offered Catelyn death, or joining him, which she refused. Koslov ordered pirates to kill remaining Raiders, but suddenly water around all four ships froze and four mages in violet robes appeared on the ship. One of them was her father Ansirem, and Archmage Modera. They defeated the pirates and then melted the ice. Ansirem gave his daughter an enchanted gem in order to pay her debt. After that, he teleported away.

Catelyn returned back to Booty Bay and gave the Pearl of Pandaria to Li Li, saying she no longer needed it to pay the debt. She offered them free of charge travel to Gadgetzan and the pandaren agreed. When they arrived to Tanaris, Li Li allowed Catelyn to hold the pearl and receive its vision. She saw herself commanding her own ship instead of Blackwater Raiders' or the Steamwheedle Cartel's.

Exploring Azeroth

WoW-novel-logo-16x62.png This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

At an unknown point in time, Catelyn and Nalini fell in love and got married.

By the time of the awakening of the Dragon Isles, Catelyn, Nalini, and their all-female crew were traveling through the South Seas aboard the Shirvallah's Laughter until they fetched up on Pandaria's shore and found a friendly berth at Anglers Wharf. While her wife went about establishing new trade contracts and the crew focused on repairing the ship, Catelyn sent word of her arrival to Chen and Li Li Stormstout, who subsequently decided to take her on a tour of Pandaria. Throughout the journey Catelyn made her own trade contacts, such as with Uncle Keenbean and Captain "Soggy" Su-Dao.

After their journey throughout Pandaria was completed, Catelyn revealed that the first port the Shirvallah's Laughter would visit after leaving Anglers Wharf was the Wandering Isle and invited the pair to come along. The Stormstouts agreed, showed her around the isle after their arrival, and introduced her to their family. When Catelyn and the rest of her crew left the Wandering Isle, they were accompanied by Li Li who decided to travel with them. While Li Li was unsure of officially joining the Blackwater Raiders, Catelyn encouraged her to think about the matter, while making it clear that she was happy to be with the crew as long as they were going the same way.[5]
