Karkut appears to be a tuskarr deity who is also known as "he who watches over the dead".[1] According to Ataika, death knights such as Thassarian bear his mark.[1] Karkut is said to watch over fallen tuskarr so they do not lose their way.[2] The tuskarr believe that Karkut's spirit is currently walking the earth, gathering the spirits of dead tuskarr.[3] Karkut awaits the spirits of dead tuskarr as they pass on.[4]
Karkut also shepherds the spirits of ottuks who were part of a tuskarr tribe in life. The ottuks' spirits are believed to stand with the tuskarr's ancestors.[5]
