Jalgar

The jalgar were a fierce race of bear-men who once dwelled in the northern reaches of ancient Kalimdor. They were the mortal enemy of the Dragonflayer clan of vrykul, but when the Dragonflayers learned to befriend and ride the savage proto-dragons, the jalgar were driven south into Kalimdor's lush central forests. There, they eventually evolved into the furbolgs.[1]

Aurostor, a furbolg Wild God in the Emerald Dream, drops an item named  [Forgotten Jalgar's Girdle].

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Brann Bronzebeard's research said that Ursoc created the furbolgs.[2] Chronicle Volume 1 explained that furbolgs descend from the jalgar. Thus Ursoc may have either created the jalgar, or turned them into furbolgs.
  • Early in Legion's development, the drogbar resembled bear creatures.[3] They may have originally been intended to be jalgar. If so, this would explain why the jalgar were only briefly introduced in Chronicle Volume 1 and then never mentioned again until patch 10.2.
