Adventure Guide
Centuries ago, Sethraliss, a powerful snake loa, sacrificed herself to stop Mythrax from unleashing his master upon Azeroth. After the battle, her devoted followers transported her remains and built a temple around them while they awaited her rebirth. Now, a dark force stirs within this sacred temple that seeks to twist her power towards nefarious ends.
History
After Sethraliss sacrificed herself to stop Mythrax from unleashing his master upon Azeroth, her devoted followers transported her remains and built a temple around them while they awaited her rebirth. However, as the sands continued to spread, Korthek grew hungry for war and plotted to unearth Mythrax and use him as a weapon to conquer Zandalar. He raised an army of like-minded sethrak, and they began to slaughter those who opposed them. The Devoted who were still loyal to Sethraliss, led by Keeper Vorrik, were forced out of their home and into hiding. They have been fighting the Faithless ever since.[1] Over the course of the sethrak civil war, the Temple of Sethraliss served as the Faithless' capital, while the Sanctuary of the Devoted had become the Devoted's last bastion against the Faithless.[2]
Though Vorrik has long held out hope of being able to convince Korthek peacefully to abandon his heresy, he resolved that all of Zandalar remained at risk as long as Korthek and his allies held even one key to Mythrax's prison. Thus Vorrik and the Speaker of the Horde traveled north to sneak into Korthek's fortress and confront the "emperor" together.[3] With the help of the vulpera, Vorrik and his ally wreak havoc on the Faithless' fortress, with Korthek initially hiding within the temple, before he emerged. and confront Emperor Korthek. However, during the fight, the emperor reveals that Jakra'zet already has Korthek's keystone and has likely retrieved Sulthis and Vorrik's stones, which were left unguarded at the Sanctuary of the Devoted. Eventually, Korthek is defeated and tells Vorrik that he never forced any of the sethrak to follow him and that their people are conquerors. Vorrik replies that "Our people are dead, because of you", then kills the emperor.[4]
As Sethraliss had yet to be reborn, Vorrik sent adventurers into the temple to investigate. The heroes eventually restore Sethraliss' avatar, who then joins the Devoted at their temple.[5]
Shadowlands
The Faithless within the Temple of Sethraliss came under attack by Emeni, with Commander Revok and Skycaller Jorthok being amongst the casualties.[6]
Exploring Azeroth
At an unknown point in time, the Devoted regained control of the temple, where they have taken to slowly foster relations with the vulpera.
By the year 42 ADP, the reputation of the Faithless still hung over the sethrak, causing them to be surprised when First Arcanist Thalyssra openly visited the Temple of Sethraliss.[7]
