The Necrotic Wake is a dungeon in Shadowlands^[1] located in Bastion. The forces of Maldraxxus, thirsty for Anima, invaded Bastion and ransacked the Temple of Courage. Heroes must thwart these invaders lest this paradisiacal place crumbles.^[2]

Adventure Guide

In an unthinkable act of treachery, forces from Maldraxxus, the realm charged with defending the Shadowlands, have invaded the Temple of Courage. They have pillaged anima and have slaughtered kyrian to fuel their dark practices. If left unchecked, the necrotic forces of the necropolis Zolramas^[sic] will pillage Bastion leaving destruction in their wake.

Blightbone

The corpulent mass of rotting flesh known as Blightbone was lovingly stitched together by Surgeon Stichflesh to lead the vanguard of the assault upon the Temple of Courage.

Amarth, The Harvester

Amarth is the powerful, sadistic leader of the necromancers of Zolramus. He oversees the harvesting of corpses from atop his flying mount, the undead monstrosity Bonefang.

Surgeon Stitchflesh

Surgeon Stitchflesh is the mastermind behind the grisly abominations that are deployed from the floating fortress of Zolramus. He bends to his task with maniacal fervor, crafting the flesh of fallen enemies into undead constructs to be used in Maldraxxus' wars.

Nalthor the Rimebinder

From atop the flying ziggurat Zolramus, Nalthor the Rimebinder commands the forces attacking Bastion. The conniving lich plans rain frozen magic and death on the pristine lands of Bastion.

Narrative

When entering the dungeon:

Nalthor the Rimebinder says: Ah, yet another of the kyrian's loyal servants. Have you come here to be slaughtered as well?

Nalthor the Rimebinder says: This temple was merely the first to fall. Soon all of Bastion will burn.

You enter the Grim Harvest and fight through the Maldraxxi forces there. Blightbone is the first boss the part encounters. When engaging Blightbone:

Blightbone yells: Blightbone rip you apart!

When Blightbone uses Heaving Retch:

Blightbone yells: Something... coming... up...

When Blightbone is defeated:

Blightbone yells: Blightbone... failed...

Nalthor the Rimebinder says: Stitchflesh will be irked to know you destroyed his prize creation. Though I am sure he would gladly take your limbs as repayment.

After going through the Final Toll and entering the Fall of Courage:

Xandria says: Face me, necromancer! Thanikos will be avenged!

Amarth says: Are you so eager to share your underling's fate? Your vaunted "courage" will be your doom!

Amarth says: Your temple lies in ruin. Your brethren are butchered. You have already lost!

Xandria says: Vile monster!

When approaching Amarth and Xandria:

Xandria says: You will be brought to justice!

Xandria creates an anima blast that kills the surrounding Maldraxxi forces.

Xandria says: You dare... deny me the sky? Then I... shall answer in kind!

She attacks Amarth in the sky but he subdues her with magic.

Amarth says: Foolish paragon. There is nothing you can do to stop us!

The party then fights Amarth. When engaging him in combat:

Amarth yells: No matter! My minions are endless!

When Amarth casts Land of the Dead:

Amarth yells: The fallen shall serve me again!

Amarth yells: My soldiers rise once more!

When Amarth begins to consume his minions with [Final Harvest]!:

Amarth yells: One final act of service!

Amarth yells: With sacrifice comes victory!

When Amarth is defeated:

Amarth yells: He will... use us.. all...

Xandria says: Your arrival proved timely, yet the battle rages on. We cannot rest until these invaders are purged from our skies.

Xandria says: I will lead the effort here while my disciples bring you to the necropolis. Let us end this atrocity.

With the help of a Winged Champion you fly inside Zolramus and enter the Stitchwerks.

Nalthor the Rimebinder says: We have all the corpses we need, Stitchflesh. Prepare to strike at the next temple.

Surgeon Stitchflesh says: Just a moment longer. It seems that the parts for my new creation have arrived at last...

When all the enemies in the Stitchwerks are defeated, Stitchflesh summons his assistants:

Surgeon Stitchflesh says: Come, my assistants! These raw materials are in need of processing!

When you defeat the assistants, Stitchflesh awakens Goregrind:

Surgeon Stitchflesh says: Incompetent oafs! Goregrind! Try not to damage those limbs whilst you tear them off.

When you defeat the Goregrind, Stitchflesh awakens Rotspew:

Surgeon Stitchflesh says: How vexing. Rotspew! Get to work, and don't fail me like your predecessor!

After defeating Rotspew:

Surgeon Stitchflesh says: No! Now I have to rebuild those two from scratch! It seems I must take matters into my own hands.

Stitchflesh awakens the creation he was working on. When you engage the creation in combat:

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: I can't wait to put your corpse to use.

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: I'll have you in stitches!

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: I must preserve your parts for later!

When Stitchflesh's Creation targets someone with [Meat Hook]! and it ends up hooking Stitchflesh:

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: Imbecile! I'm the one who made you!

When you defeat the creation:

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: Have you no respect for craftsmanship?!

When you defeat Stitchflesh:

Surgeon Stitchflesh yells: My greatest... was yet... to come....

A portal that leads you to the top of Zolramus where Nalthor can be found opens up. When you engage Nalthor:

Nalthor the Rimebinder yells: Bastion shall be laid to waste!

When Nalthor casts Icebound Aegis:

Nalthor the Rimebinder yells: The chill of death protects me!

When Nalthor casts Comet Storm:

Nalthor the Rimebinder yells: None can escape the storm.

When Nalthor casts Dark Exile on someone:

Nalthor the Rimebinder yells: I have had enough of you!

When he is defeated:

Nalthor the Rimebinder yells: A fleeting victory... against a fraction of our forces...

Xandria then shows up and helps you leave Zolramus.
