Ironforge Mountain
Ironforge Mountain,[1][2][3][4][5] located in north-central Dun Morogh, is the tallest mountain in Khaz Modan[6][7] and by extension all of the Eastern Kingdoms.[8] The eponymous City of Ironforge is built into its heart[6][7] and is accessible through the Gates of Ironforge built into its southern face. The mountain dominates the landscape of Dun Morogh. Its western slopes descend toward Chill Breeze Valley, while the Ironforge Airfield sits in a valley on its eastern slopes. On the northern side, the mountain descends sharply to the plateaus of the southern Wetlands.
In the RPG
Ironforge Mountain (or the Ironforge Mountains)[9] is the site of both the dwarven capital city of Ironforge and gnomish capital of Gnomeregan.[10][11] Loch Modan lies in the foothills of this mountain and the Stonewrought Dam traps the snowmelt from it, creating a massive lake.[12]
Notes
- The mountain features a number of minor points of interest, including:
- A bomber crashed into its northern face, with debris and the remains of the pilot scattered on the slope below it.[62.15, 17.58]
- A number of Dun Morogh Sledders, accompanied by Ollie the dog, riding sleds down the western slopes toward Chill Breeze Valley. A couple of the sledders are warming themselves in a cave on a narrow northwestern ledge.[60.4, 20.4] Prior to Cataclysm, the cave belonged to a handful of Frostmane trolls (a Headhunter, Shadowcaster, and Snowstrider).
- A Coldmine Explorer and Seasoned Coldmine Explorer in a small camp on one of the western slopes.[57.2, 28.3]
- An uninhabited camp on the eastern shoulder.[69.55, 31]
- At the mountain's very peak[64, 26.35] is an Explorers' League banner along with the supplies and remains of an unfortunate explorer.
- An Ironforge Guard near the Gates of Ironforge.
- Prior to Cataclysm, a Black Bear accompanied by two Young Black Bears could be found northwest of the Ironforge Airfield, next to a waterfall[65.5, 12.8] just above the Wetlands farm.
