“Being a unique professional is a gift, <name>. To be the best at one thing... It is a wonderful power, but also a responsibility: to your guild, to your customers, and to all of Azeroth. You must be true to your calling, fair in your business, and respectful in your trade.”

Miguel Bright[1]

The Artisan's Consortium (or the Consortium)[2] is a reputation faction associated with professions. Founded by the vulpera Aisha, the company[3] is a collection of entrepreneurs, artisans, adventurers, and merchants who provide goods and services to crafters and gatherers in need across Azeroth.[4] They have a vast network of artisans and gatherers of all professions that can craft and obtain the highest quality goods,[5] and their business connects those artisans and gatherers to the customers.[6] According to Haephesta, the company is not just a business, they are an innovation on the market.[7]

In Dragonflight, the agents and vendors met by the heroes are part of the Dragon Isles branch of the organization.

History

After years of listening to the woes of traders across the lands, always complaining that it is difficult to find reliable customers,[6] the vulpera Aisha realized there was good and profit to be had in providing a service that connects crafters to their customers. For years, she traveled and recruited people to start up her business.[5] One of them was the Lightforged draenei Haephesta, who tried to peddle her goods for years but couldn't find clients, ending up wandering the city for anyone who needed something, until she received an offer of the Artisan's Consortium.[7]

When the Dragonscale Expedition was announced, Aisha thought this was the perfect business opportunity to expand her company, and to capitalize on the wealthy adventurers. Their ambassadors were sent to Stormwind City and Orgrimmar, and once they reached the Dragon Isles, their scouts began to set up trading posts across the land.[7] Aisha also thought of recruiting venturesome artisans who are willing to work where caravans are yet to travel, in order to expand even further.[5] Once they were allowed, they set up their camps in the Artisan's Market of Valdrakken and at Forkriver Crossing in the Ohn'ahran Plains. According to Dothenos, they quickly proved their business savvy.[2]

At some point, the organization made a deal with the quartermasters of the Gladiator's Refuge in Valdrakken, allowing combatants to obtain tokens to certify their crafting orders, or own crafted equipment, for use in battlegrounds and arenas.[8]

Following the downfall of Fyrakk, Aisha and a few members of the Artisan's Consortium visited Amirdrassil when it bloomed on the Dragon Isles, and could be seen attending the celebration in Bel'ameth.[9]

During Love is in the Air, Torgando Featherhoof and Galvus Ironhammer explained to adventurers that the Artisan's Consortium was one of several guilds who assisted the Gala of Gifts' operations in Elwynn Forest and Durotar. While there were many other independent artisans to sell their wares, it was the Consortium that provided the tents and event support to make this all possible. Both were also present to ask for donations in order to bring the festival back next year.

Services and rules

Adventurers can use the crafting stations across the Dragon Isles to complete their crafting orders.

Unlike the Auction House, the Consortium deals in made-to-order products. Since there is no building and no surplus goods, while they are constantly expanding, they have a "artisan-to-mail service" to send the newly crafted items to their customers.[6] Sometimes, the company's agents meet their favorite customers to get feedback on their latest orders and purchases.[10] They are also willing to help the artisans on their journey to honing their specialization,[1] and if they don't have one, they propose a series of questions based on personality in order to find the professions that would suit them best.[11]

By speaking to one of their representatives, one can request made-to-order goods and equipment from their artisans, as long as they have the components for the crafting orders.[12] Anything that their crafters can make on the Dragon Isles is available for request, and as they strive for high-quality service,[13] they are looking to expand to other inventory. Artisans and crafters can help them fill these orders for incredible profits, but also build their clientele and fill personally-requested orders with high-quality goods for lucrative profits.[5] When an order is accepted, its the Artisan's Consortium that contacts the crafter or the gatherer and asks them to prepare the necessary for the customer.[14] If a customer likes the services of one of the craftsmen, they can consider sending them personal orders instead of trying their luck on the public market, or they can place an order with their guild.[6]

To work with the Artisan's Consortium, the crafters and artisans have rules to follow. Firstly, they have to make sure they are a good representative of the company and must be courteous to their customers. Secondly, in order to be fair to the other crafters of the consortium, they can only fill a number of public orders per day. However, the company wants to be on top of customers' needs, so if an order is about to expire, they won't count that against the crafter's limit. The company is also in charge of updating the crafting stations with an updated list of everyone's crafting orders.[15] As business partners, the Artisan's Consortium offers some professional equipment free of charge to their new associates. Their tailor Mahra Treebender is in charge of preparing the outfits, asking many questions about everyone's measurements and preferences.[16]

Beyond their services, they also sell recipes, blueprints, enchanting formulas, and techniques in exchange for gold or Artisan's Mettle. At some point, they also trademarked the term "Artisan Curios", special items that can be used by adventurers during their journey, notably to answer puzzles with adventures or treasures waiting beyond, as sometimes a mystery can't be solved with sword or spell.[17]
