Notes

  • This is the first time Alleria is seen in her new The War Within outfit.
  • The short story makes references to H [40-70] Remember the Sunwell, A Thousand Years of War, Shadows Rising, Warcraft: Sylvanas, and The Vow Eternal.
  • The short story describes Alleria seeing a toddler while on a walk in Silvermoon and remembering how she had been able to see Arator in those years thanks to the Light, from far away,[5] as she did in A Thousand Years of War when he was a boy. As such, it offers a context to the Shadows Rising scene with Alleria watching her young child swinging a wooden sword at a frog, which would not be possible since she was already lost when Arator was growing up.
  • The story recontextualizes Alleria's attendance at Lor'themar and Thalyssra's wedding in Suramar, which some readers observed as peculiar in light of her unresolved feud with the groom. Alleria reflects that Lor'themar is still willing to extend her a measure of goodwill for the bond they once shared, and it's mentioned that her invitation to Suramar contained the same stipulation that limited her visit to Silvermoon.
  • Arator's residence in Silvermoon marks the first time a nominal member of the Horde or Alliance has been granted lodgings in a capital belonging to the other, and together with the Horde's tolerance in Bel'ameth might reflect an easing of faction tensions since the Fourth War. Beyond that, Arator's specific relocation to Silvermoon is interesting, as both his mother and the aunt who raised him are political exiles.
