Edge of Night is a short story by Dave Kosak featured on the official site. It is the ninth in the Leaders of Azeroth series, released on September 27, 2011, and centers on the Forsaken's ruler Sylvanas Windrunner.

• Edge of Night features the first appearance of the Maw, though it was not identified as such until World of Warcraft: Shadowlands; in the short story, it's referred to only as "the darkness", "the endless void", or "the dark, unknown realm of anguish". The novel Sylvanas includes a heavily expanded retelling of the events of Edge of Night.
