Mogu'shan Vaults is one of the three raids that opened with the release of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. This six-boss raid invites adventurers to explore the hidden secrets of the elusive Mogu empire, one of the new indigenous Pandarian races.[1]

The entrance to the Vaults is found in northeast Kun-Lai Summit, accessed on Mogu'shan Terrace, overlooking the Zouchin Province far below.

Normal mode opened on October 2, 2012. First part of Raid Finder and heroic difficulties opened on October 9, and second part of Raid Finder opened on October 16.[2] Raid Finder difficulty requires an average item level of 460.

World first 10-player heroic clear was by DREAM Paragon (Lightning's Blade EU) on October 11, 2012,[3] and world first 25-player heroic clear was by Method (Twisting Nether EU) on October 13, 2012.[4]

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

During the events of the Assault in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Magni Bronzebeard and an adventurer sought to find the Engine of Nalak'sha and came to the entrance of the vaults in Kun-Lai only to find corpses of mogu and mantid with the door being turned into an impenetrable amber. One mogu warrior was barely alive and told them that the vaults themselves were taken over by the mantid. A squad of the Deephive mantid soon arrived and struck the mogu down, but were in turn killed as well.[5] Seeking answers and the source of the warrior's sigil, the Speaker of Azeroth came to Lorewalker Cho[6] who hit the books and found out that the mogu warrior belonged to the Rajani.[7] Magni and the adventurer went to consult the mogu and found Ra-den.[8]

After convincing him, he directed them to Mogu'shan Palace and use a tunnel to the vaults, which the pair did. When they finally emerged from the long tunnel in the vaults, Magni and the adventurer found not only the mantid, but the place was also infested with Void tentacles, eyes, and maws. When Magni saw that he asked the adventurer to destroy N'Zoth's taint. Once the Repository was cleared, the pair headed to the Engine, fighting the remaining Deephive and N'Zoth's fiends, including Swarmguard Kzaz and Yox'ith. Once they were defeated, the Engine was linked to the Chamber of Heart, and its power was used to empower the Forge of Origination.[9] Afterward, Ra tasked Stormspeaker Qian with having the Rajani in defense of the Engine.[10]

Adventure Guide

The mogu, proud of their supremacy, kept lengthy records of their accomplishments within a great complex of vaults. Guarded by ferocious magical beings, these sacred chambers have remained silent since the mogu's departure.

Encounters

Guardians of Mogu'shan

Long dormant, this ancient archive of the mogu has awakened, as have its protectors. Danger and mystery await within...

The Vault of Mysteries

Buried deep in the mountainside, the heart of the ancient mogu repository holds a secret that may threaten all of Azeroth.

Overview

Lorewalker Cho accompanies the raid through the vaults, providing exposition on the mobs and bosses. After defeating a group of stone Quilen, the Stone Guard are fought. This awakens the spirit of Feng the Accursed, who animates several stone statues of Mogu before joining the fight himself. After slaying him, a Zandalari strike force led by Gara'jal the Spiritbinder breaks into the vault.

Free of the troll threat, the raid delves further into the vaults, where Cho presses a button in a hall of deceased rulers, animating the vengeful Spirit Kings. Deeper inside, players discover Titan technology and ghosts of Mogu'shan Wardens. The technology is protected by Elegon the celestial cloud serpent. After more lore is revealed, the raid must face Lei Shen's giant construct machine for building his armies: The Will of the Emperor. After destroying the army of terracotta warriors, the machine is destroyed.

Patch changes

  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2013-10-16): Resolved an issue that prevented players from completing the Straight Six achievement.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.3.0 (2013-05-21): The Strength of One's Foes: All bosses in Mogu'shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, and Terrace of the Endless Spring now have a chance to drop either a Sigil of Power or Sigil of Wisdom.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2013-01-22): Sigils of Power now only drop in Mogu'shan Vaults, and Sigils of Wisdom will only drop in Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring, with a very small chance to drop in LFR Mogu'shan Vaults.
