The Forge of Origination is a titan-forged super weapon located in Uldum, a desert in southern Kalimdor. Much like the Forge of Wills (its twin system in Ulduar), it was created by the keepers to serve a dual purpose: it fortifies the form of Azeroth's Worldsoul, but if the world becomes corrupted by the Old Gods, the Forge can also release immense energies to destroy all life on the planet, reduce the world to its base elements, and then create a new generation of life—a process known as re-origination that has been used by the titans on many other worlds in the universe. The titans assigned Algalon the Observer to watch over Azeroth for signs of corruption and to oversee this re-origination process if necessary.
The Forge of Origination has threatened to activate several times. During the war against the Lich King, Algalon was automatically summoned to Azeroth by the death of Prime Designate Loken and nearly initiated the re-origination process, but was convinced to reverse his decision when he was defeated by mortal adventurers. During the Cataclysm, various minions of Deathwing tried to gain access to the Forge and its ability to scour life from the world, but with no success. During the Fourth War, the Old God N'Zoth sought to corrupt the Forge so he could use it to rewrite reality by merging Azeroth with Ny'alotha, a vision of the world ruled by the Old Gods' ancient Black Empire, but Azeroth's mortal defenders instead turned the weapon against him by firing its focused energies into Ny'alotha, destroying both the Old God and his realm.
