The Earthen are an allied race introduced in The War Within. After being awakened, they join both the Alliance and Horde, they are the first neutral allied race.
Background

The Earthen are a titan-forged race made of living stone imbued with the essence of Azeroth's worldsoul. These ancient denizens are freshly freed from the edicts that have bound them and now venture forth with limitless curiosity to ally with the Alliance and Horde and explore the world.[1]
Opening cutscene
Dawn: Before Magni's sacrifice, we earthen were bound by our innate purpose. Stagnant traditions nearly brought us to ruin. We must embrace the call of change. Azeroth is growing, and we need to grow with her. Now is the time to discover who we are.
Unlocking
In order to unlock earthen, players must first earn the 
[Allied Races: Earthen] achievement by completing the max-level 
[The War Within] campaign and a few optional chapters of the Isle of Dorn storyline and Ringing Deeps storyline.

Notes and trivia
- The male earthen dance is derived from the dance for the song "Rasputin" by Boney M. While the song released in 1978, the dance originates from the 2010 Wii game Just Dance 2.
- The female earthen dance is derived from a type of Highland dance, in particular one known in modern times as the Highland Fling.
- When first announced at BlizzCon 2023, the death knight was an available class for the Earthen and were even enabled for a short time during the Alpha testing of War Within.[2]
- In contrast to other neutral races, like the pandaren and the dracthyr, playable earthen don't have distinct groups within the factions nor a faction-specific racial leader. They are all, instead, just members of the Awakened who chose based on personal preferences.
