An imp

Summon Imp is a warlock ability used to summon a controllable imp as a minion. The imp is the first demonic minion available to the warlock at the beginning of the game.

Of the five regular warlock pets, the Imp has the least health, but it makes up for this by being a ranged spell caster with defensive and utility abilities.

Quotes

As with the other warlock pets, the Imp talks. When asked to attack, it will sometimes complain about it in Common or Orcish. At other times, it says something indecipherable in Demonic.

• Imps have an idle animation of capering about, sometimes performing a front flip as well. They never seem to stand totally still and often fidget.
• The Imp is notable for being the only warlock minion with almost entirely comical quotes. These quotes may represent a genuine depiction of Imps' personalities, or perhaps more likely a less canonical interpretation similar to characters' joke emotes.
• While swimming the Imp performs the doggy paddle.

Notes

As of patch 10.1.5, the Imp's appearance can be customized in the barbershop. As part of this new system, the Fel Imp minion, which previously existed as an upgraded minion in the form of [Summon Fel Imp], became a cosmetic variant rather than a separate summon with its own abilities. It can be learned from  [Grimoire of the Fel Imp].

A third type of imp variant, the Fiend, was also added with the patch as part of the new system. You can also now disable the fel flames on the base imp skin.

• Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Cast time is now 6 seconds (was 2.5 seconds). Now learned at level 3 (was 5).

• Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Damage increased by 20%.
