- Many spies have many eyes, but this creature is both.[1]
Eye of Kilrogg is a warlock ability. Named for the great leader of the Bleeding Hollow clan, Kilrogg Deadeye, this spell is a variation on the summoning and necromantic magics used by the now vanquished warlocks and ogre magi of the Old Horde.[2] This creates a free-floating apparition in the form of a disembodied Eye that the caster can then direct, transmitting its view to the caster, giving the caster knowledge of both the lands it wanders and those creatures who live there.
While the eye is active, the caster is effectively in a channeling trance, so any interruption will cancel the eye. The eye has a relatively small amount of health (not increased by gear) and so is easily destroyed. The eye has a slow fall effect so it will not take any type of fall damage. Most mobs will not attack the eye unless it moves extremely close to them. Due to its low health, any mob will one shot the eye. If you use it to aggro an instance boss, the boss may do some of their custom emotes used when you start a boss encounter, but the eye getting killed does not seem to aggro the boss onto the players. The Eye can be used for tricky pulls.
Background
This section concerns content related to Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness or its expansion Beyond the Dark Portal.
- Main article: Eye of Kilrogg (Warcraft II)
The Eye of Kilrogg was introduced in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness as one of the Ogre-Mage's spells.
Notes and trivia
- Strangely enough, the Eye of Kilrogg is immune to damage caused by lava, and it can be used somewhat effectively to help find players who may have died while submerged in lava.
- The Eye of Kilrogg has a reduced chance to aggro mobs, making it even more useful in instances.
- The Eye also has a slow fall effect on it, allowing the warlock to view farther distances than before.
- In the canceled game Warcraft Adventures, an ogre mage named Mugg'roth started to periodically cast the spell to pass the time once Thrall gave him his spellbook back. The incantation Mugg'roth used was "Zyhana Graaka Nak!"
