Artemede is an Ascended kyrian located in Bastion and one of the Hands of Courage, alongside her brother Apolon, serving as seconds in command to Xandria the Paragon of Courage. She and Apolon also organize the Path of Ascension, the eternal training ground of the kyrian.
History
As aspirants, Artemede and Apolon quickly formed a bond akin to siblings which eventually led to them becoming soulbinds.[1]
When the Maldraxxi attacked the Temple of Courage, Artemede was among the kyrian who fought against them at Xandria's Vigil. After witnessing Thanikos fall at the Necrotic Wake, she asked the Maw Walker, who had been aiding Thanikos, to gather their allies and plunge into the Necrotic Wake to make sure that Xandria didn't get overwhelmed and that both Amarth and Nalthor the Rimebinder, the leaders of the attack, did not make it back to the safety of their realm.[2] She would afterwards become a Hand of Courage, alongside Apolon.
When the Maw Walker decided to join the Kyrian Covenant, Artemede was part of the reception the Archon arranged for them in honor of their efforts against the Maldraxxus incursion in Bastion.[3]
Artemede was present during the joint counterattack, by the Necrolord Covenant and Kyrian Covenant, on the House of Constructs. During the battle, after the Maw Walker delivered to her a scroll detailing all manner of horrific ways to 'integrate' fallen kyrian into Gharmal's abomination constructs, she requested that the Maw Walker hunt down any of Surgeon Stitchflesh's remaining followers in the Hall of Chains and collect any similar scrolls that they might have in their possession. She would then personally oversee their destruction.[4]
When enough anima was gathered, the eternal training ground of the kyrian, the Path of Ascension, its coliseum was empowered and opened once more. The Hands of Courage, Artemede and Apolon, stepped up to lead this tradition[5] and guided the Maw Walker and their soulbinds toward it. Artemede explained how to participate in the Path's trial challenges[6] and how to craft equipment that could help the soulbinds in their battles in the arena.[7] With the training done, Artemede would then oversee all the remaining trials alongside Apolon.
Artemede, Apolon, and their soldiers continued to fight against the undead near the Temple of Courage, but the fighting had to come to a brief halt when the Paragons called the sound to battle against the Forsworn at the Temple of Loyalty. As the final push, the Maw Walker was sent to gather the Courage's Bearers, and Artemede and Apolon quickly answered the call.[8]
When the Covenants attacked the Mawsworn in the Maw, Artemede was among the fighters in Cocyrus during the Kyrian assault and asked the Maw Walker to collect Trueheart Spears and use them to eliminate Mawsworn Myrmidons.[9] She also led the kyrian reinforcements during the Necrolord assault in Perdition Hold[10] and asked the Maw Walker to eliminate the Keeper of Chains.[11]
She was present during the grand reception before the ceremony where Adrestes was made the Paragon of Devotion and thanked the Maw Walker on their heroic efforts.[1]
