The Warcraft universe is a high-fantasy franchise developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Set in the richly detailed world of Azeroth and beyond, the main storyline revolves around the conflicts between diverse races such as humans, orcs, elves, and the undead. The original game, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, released in 1994, pioneered the real-time strategy (RTS) genre. It was followed by sequels and expansions, including Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

In 2004, the franchise expanded with World of Warcraft (WoW), an immensely popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that continues to receive new expansions, the latest being The War Within. The Warcraft universe also encompasses novels, comics, a feature film, and various licensed merchandise, further immersing fans into its epic tales of heroism, magic, and conflict.

WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria was a limited-time event that ran from 16 May to 20 August, 2024, in which players could re-experience nearly the entirety of the Mists of Pandaria expansion at an accelerated rate. Players created special Timerunner characters on existing realms that began at level 10 and could level up to 70 while being locked to the continent of Pandaria and its quests, scenarios, dungeons, and raids.

All loot was overhauled, with customizable items and a permanently-upgradable cloak allowing characters to scale almost indefinitely in power. A special currency, Bronze, could be used to purchase a variety of rare or unique cosmetic items. At the end of the event, all Timerunner characters were converted to normal characters in time for the launch of The War Within expansion on 26 August. A successor event, WoW Remix: Legion, released with patch 11.2.5.
