Seduction is a Sayaad ability granted by [Command Demon]. It mesmerizes a target and renders them unable to attack, cast or use any other abilities - they can only walk towards the Sayaad. Any damage caused to the target has a chance to remove the effect.

Notes

Seduction has a 1.7-second casting time and is channeled, so the Sayaad can't perform any other action while seducing and can be interrupted. This ability only works on humanoids and lasts for 30 seconds against mobs, but only 8 seconds against players, and is subject to diminishing returns in PvP. Any damage inflicted on the target will break Seduction instantly.

Seduction on other players is controlled by diminishing returns, which means that you can't seduce a player an unlimited number of times. Not only that, but Seduction and [Fear] are in the same diminishing returns category, preventing alternating use for long periods of time.

Patch changes

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Duration decreased to 6 seconds in PvP combat (was 8 seconds).
  • Shadowlands Hotfix (2022-02-24): Fixed an issue where casting [Grimoire of Sacrifice]: Seduction on another player would break immediately and would not clear damage over time effects.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.2.0 (2022-02-22): Now causes the target to slowly walk towards the demon. It now also has a chance to break on damage taken, rather than always breaking on the first instance of damage.
  • Battle for Azeroth Hotfix (2018-08-08): Succubus will no longer automatically cast Seduction when the Warlock is affected by crowd control effects.
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Now granted by [Command Demon] (was learned by default).
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Now has a 30-second cooldown.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): Many crowd control abilities no longer cause creatures to attack players when they are cast. The creature will not attack the player when the crowd control wears off, and nearby creatures will not become hostile to the player either. However, if a visible player gets too close to the target creature, the creature will remember and attack the player when the crowd control effect wears off. This includes Seduction.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Cast time and mana cost reduced, duration increased. Some related talents removed from game.
  • Bc icon.gif Patch 2.2.0 (2007-09-25): Duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13): Succubus pets will be smarter about when to use Seduction.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.4.0 (2005-04-19): Now considered a Fear effect for purposes of diminishing returns.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Mana cost reduced, increased the chance of breaking early.
  • Test-inline.png Patch 0.12 (2004-10-11): Now only works against Humanoids.
  • Test-inline.png Patch 0.11 (2004-09-29): Now has a short cast time. Cooldown timer has been removed.
