History
Sylvanas
Many years before the Great Wars, nobility and many Farstriders, including Auric Sunchaser, Verana, Rellian, Talthressar, and others visited Windrunner Spire when their friend, Alleria Windrunner, was about to conduct her initiation to start training to become ranger-general.[1]
The Burning Crusade
In the years following the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas, the Cult of the Damned transformed many of the elven rangers into banshees. The Spire was since overrun by banshees and cultists of the Scourge, operating from Deatholme in the south.
In time, the blood elf adventurer was tasked by High Executor Mavren of the Forsaken to cleanse the Scourge infection in the area and reclaim the Spire in the name of the Banshee Queen.[2] The adventurers eventually recover Sylvanas' necklace on one of the undead.[3]
War Crimes
During the trial of Garrosh Hellscream in Pandaria, Vereesa summoned her sister Sylvanas to Windrunner Spire in secrecy to discuss her plans. Motivated by the death of her husband Rhonin, Vereesa sought the help of her undead sister to poison the former Warchief and Sylvanas, ultimately, agreed to aid her. At this point, the spire was still inhabited by hostile banshees and the remnants of the Deatholme cultists.[4]
Windrunner: Three Sisters
A month after the end of the Argus Campaign, the Windrunner sisters reunited and attacked Windrunner Spire's undead interlopers. Sylvanas also prepared to have its entrance serve as an ambush spot, but she never gave the signal for her dark rangers to attack Alleria and Vereesa.[5]
Despite the attack on the undead here, Sylvanas knew more would take their place.[6]
Battle for Azeroth
As part of the annual blood elven ceremony, a blood elven adventurer and Lor'themar Theron arrived here and killed several Tormented Rangers.[7]
Following the battle at the Gates of Orgrimmar, leading to the conclusion of the Fourth War, loyalists to Sylvanas Windrunner rendezvous with her and Nathanos Blightcaller at the Spire. She mused on death and her bargain with Queen Azshara, while the fallen banshees bowed to her, before departing the grounds.[8]
Notes
- In War Crimes, the area is described as the place where Sylvanas Windrunner had fallen during the Third War.[9] Previously in Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, Sylvanas' final stand was described in Eversong Woods. World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 3 and Warbringers: Sylvanas reinforce Rise of the Lich King, hinting that the War Crimes information is a mistake.
Patch changes
- Patch 2.0.3 (2007-01-09): Added.
