Your opinion is desired

Hey, just wanted to get your opinion on Talk:Archbishop Benedictus about whether or not the "he staged a coup" note from patch 1.4.1 should be considered lore or not. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:37, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Help with Wetlands storyline

I'll probably feel silly once I know the answer, but how do I access the part that says { { Wetlands storyline } } in the source code? --Oswald Cobblepot (talk) 06:46, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

If you preview the page, below the editbox you will see a "List of templates used" section, one of them will point to Template:Wetlands storyline. --k_d3 00:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Engineering name pages

I have erred, and I believe I do not have the tools to correct it elegantly.

I initially normalized the engineering schematic collection pages on "(rank) Engineering schematics". I believe the proper naming format is "(rank) engineering schematics" (lower case on Engineering). Yet, I had moved Artisan Engineering Schematics *from* that name, creating a redirect.

I do not have the power to undo a move, nor (that I know of) to move over a redirect. Can you assist me? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:48, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

As long as the only edit is the creation of a redirect, you should be able to move back over it. One sec while I check. --k_d3 21:51, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Yup. An admin would have to get involved if someone edited the page after it was made a redirect, as then it'd have a history and wouldn't be automatically deleted in the event of a page move. --k_d3 21:52, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Count von Template

Your addition of distinct artifact counts disturbs me on a maintainability level. You are adding text that directly refers to the template table. However, someone editing the template has no reference to your count. I would be much happier if the template had a parameter to display that particular text, or perhaps just displayed that text as part of the template all the time. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:33, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

That was a spur-of-the-moment, hack solution to my messing around with the Archaeology#Archaeology macros section. It needs to go in the template itself, for sure. I had intended to do that "in a few minutes", but, well... --k_d3 02:00, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

Monaco Port

Hello! I, and the wikis that I edit, also left Wikia due to the new Oasis skin. I was just wandering if you knew about the Monaco Port? It's a copy of the Monaco skin that works in any MediaWiki installation, so if you prefer Monaco over Vector, you can easily install it. I myself always preferred Monaco over any other skin, so this was excellent news for me. =] Have a good day! Monaco (talk) 02:46, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I prefer vector far far more than I do monaco, but neat that someone implemented a skin similar to wikia's after dealing with all of their interrelated extension hackery. --k_d3 02:59, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Hovertips and the Embroid template

I've been doing some work on enchantment pages/templates, and I noticed that pages using the Embroid template do not show hovertips when using standard square bracket links. An example is Fur Lining - Stamina here. However, they DO work if I link with the Loot|Enchant template. Is this an feature that can be made to work, or should I start using the Loot template for links to pages that use Embroid? Thanks. --Eincrou (talk) 03:22, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Use the plain links. We'll fix {{embroid}} to use our new default linking goodness. --k_d3 03:32, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for helping with the previous issue; it was fixed very quickly. Now I'm wondering if we can add a feature to {{Enchant}}. The {{Proftip}} template allows us to set parameters for skill difficulty with |skillyellow, and all the rest. They don't seem to be utilized often on pages that use Proftip, but I am working on creating/maintaining all the new Cataclysm enchants and would update those pages to include this information. These parameters may also be useful for {{Embroid}}, but to a lesser extent since many embroideries start at green difficulty and probably aren't used to level up. Let me know what you think. --Eincrou (talk) 03:53, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey, can you please temporarily undelete User:Sam613/Change In Money or send me the code so I can host it elsewhere? Sam613 (talk) 01:53, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Karazhan Map

Is there no Karazhan map yet, or have you just not yet uploaded what is undoubtedly several files worth of it? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk)

I just noticed that myself. Neither BT nor Kara were added this build. I'm assuming they're coming soonish. Hopefully. --k_d3 03:01, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Template:Cost

According to wowhead - [Ironpaw Token] (currency id = 402) will be new name for [Chef's Award] (currency id = 402). As I know as yet, there is no indication that these tokens will be different. Neia Pique (talk) 20:05, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Indeed. When 5.0 rolls around I'll redirect {{cost|<ca=>}} calls into {{cost|<it=>}} calls. The preferred syntax will be {{cost|<it=X>}}, but |ca=X will display the same thing. --k_d3 20:08, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
Although the ID is being taken over, I thought the quests rewarding and the items that cost [Chef's Award] were being turned into [Epicurean's Award]. Shouldn't {{cost|<ca=>}} call into {{cost|<ea=>}}. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:31, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
I... think so? Maybe? Whatever the end result is will be reflected in the template. It's trivial to change it one way or the other. --k_d3 20:37, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Sadly, that actually looks the same as before

The single empty line is pretty much ignored, compare before my attempt and current - the same quite small distance. I hoped to create something between that and the thing my attempt produced, a discernable gap that isn't too wide. Outdated maps

Hi,

The maps for The Jade Forest, Wandering Isle and Kun-Lai Summit are outdated. I attempted to fix the Jade Forest map several months ago but I was told that WoWpedia's maps are taken from the game files in a way I do not know how to do, and that you are the primary map person. I thought you would like to know as with the exception of Kun-Lai Summit (which was changed in 5.1), the other two have been outdated since the MoP beta and were probably overlooked.

Broken "leaving Wikia" links on talk pages

Hey there :) I see your bot has been very busy updating -wiki to -pedia on the talk pages. In the case of the "should Wowpedia leave Wikia" messages, this leaves this broken link Forum:Should WoWWiki leave Wikia?, eg User_talk:Sports72Xtrm#Your_opinion_is_desired. Presumably a simple redirect would solve the problem, but I'll leave that to you to decide. -- Taohinton (talk) 17:36, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Whoops. Fixed. I thought I told the script to not modify those links in specific. Guess not. --k_d3 19:02, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Battleground ordering

Hi there. I'm not sure I agree with your re-ordering of the list so that Alterac Valley comes before Eye of the Storm. The list was ordered according to minimum level, mirroring the order at which they become available to players (AV becomes available at 45, but is now listed before EotS which becomes available at 35). That seemed a pretty sensible way of doing things, especially since most players reading the page are likely new to the subject of battlegrounds and therefore likely new to the game. I guess what you're going for is roughly order of addition, but if so Arathi Basin actually needs to come after AV too, which would feel a little strange (to me at least) since it becomes available at level 10, 35 levels before AV. Overall I think the minimum level/order in which they become available to players is more important than arbitrary historical detail; a list of which bgs were introduced when is also presented in the paragraph before that section. -- Taohinton (talk) 20:48, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Hotfixes patch 5.2.0

There are about 19 new patches to 5.2.0. I would number them from 5.2.0a to 5.2.0s. But you changed it back to 5.2.0j. What is the reason to have a limit to j, and not go further with lettering? Hans Kamp (talk) 07:52, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

KD3, you can ignore my above comment because I was misleaded into thinking there were patches 5.2.0, 5.2.0a-s, but since you removed the duplicates in the list, the undo you did in Template:Patches, was rightful. :) Hans Kamp (talk) 18:11, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry to annoy with this, but could you do me a favour and finish this list: Faction daily quests

Redundant actions

Don't want to make a big deal of this, but if your bot is going to do something I've already done (such as the image for Nice Sprite and the Timeless Isle map for PTR Build 17227)... I guess I'll just stay away from the PTR stuff in general so I'm not wasting my time. :| -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 00:49, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Ack, sorry about that. By all means, keep doing it. I generally bulk-add stuff, and occasionally things get stomped. If you think your version's better, feel free to revert over mine. No hard feelings on that point from my end. --k_d3 00:51, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, will keep that in mind. :) -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 00:56, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Achievementlong

Hi Kd :) I've seen you removing/converting {{Achievementlong}} from articles for a long time now. Am I correct in thinking that's something that should be done on all articles, as part of a site-wide conversion away from that template? I ask firstly because I run across them myself occasionally and would be happy to convert them when I do, and secondly because I've recently seen other editors actually adding the template in place of regular links. -- Taohinton (talk) 10:04, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Feel free to remove any uses of achievementlong you see. If you look at the source for the template, it only calls [[{{{1}}}]], so editors adding it in place of links are just wasting effort. A bot will get around to removing all uses of it at some point. --k_d3 01:11, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Your opinion on the Subzones of Stormwind City template

I was about to go ahead and make a sizable number of cuts to that template when I noticed you had tweaked one relevant item, The Three Winds, since my visit earlier today, so why not check in to see if the veteran editor knows something I don't! The gist of my edit plan is that many supposed "subzones" are simply buildings, and not subzones at all, so I was going to cut them, including that one. I posted a more detailed proposition on the talk page. - Jerodast (talk) 20:06, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Yah, that's a good idea. Let me make one more edit to {{Stormwind City}} though. --k_d3 20:28, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
