Mao Xiaozhen is a fierce warrior of the Huojin Pandaren; a strict and combat-ready group of Pandaren who have chosen to ally themselves with the Horde. Deciding to fly the Huojin banner was not a difficult decision for him, as his own personal creed had long paralled that of the Huojin way. While not malevolent at heart, Mao strongly strongly prefers action over all else.  Such ideals led him to practice his combat skills since early childhood, when he would pick up his first sword and practice on training dummies for hours on end.  Mao's emotions tend to get the best of him, and his mannerisms have often be found as unpolite by many of the wiser of pandaren monks.

A rather brutish individual, he has lugged around a heavy gut for years due to his love of the spirits made within the Wandering Isle.  While stamina has certainly become a hindrance for him during battle, Mao has learned to make every strike count as he perceives his foe's movements.  His predictions of the enemy combatant's actions have taught him to strike with ferocity, as a particularly fierce blow from Mao has seen the end of countless hozen.  Mao prefers to wear heavy plate armor for utmost protection, as well as a large blade so as to increase his range of attack when made.    

Such ideals have recently garnered the attention of the Shado-Pan, whose affiliation has reluctantly watched as the Horde and Alliance forces tread upon Pandaria and bring forth destruction in their war. The Shado-Pan, understanding full well the path of the Huojin, have personally questioned Mao at times as to his allegiance, whether it be to the new factions invading the island or his own people.

Each time he is questioned, Mao defends his believes strongly with a vague explanation of action being necessary in order to reach the change he desires.
