Bronze

Hey, this is very minor but I think saying "Some bronze dragons also retain enough power" is a tiny bit misleading because as far as we know all bronze dragons were affected the same way, as such saying that only some can still do stuff would be a bit incorrect since it implies that 1) some don't have "enough power" 2) those who do only have "enough" power when as far as we know they're still powerful time-badasses. Chromie in 7.2.5 sends you back in the future (get it?) many times for example so as far as we know they're all pretty much still good. Here's what another bronze says :

The Weavers are acanists who specialize in chronomancy; the art of weaving time. Amongst the Timewalkers, we alone can repair damage to the timeways, open temporal portals, and other such tasks. These things once came easily to the bronze dragonflight, but alas, no longer.

And Kairoz :

The bronze dragonflight's powers have diminished greatly - we can now only catch furtive glimpses through time. It is... quite frustrating.

That's quite broad, it seems to have affected the dragonflight ("we") more or less the same way in general, and there's nothing implying that some don't have "enough power" to keep doing this stuff, it's just harder than before but still pretty doable. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 12:36, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

sure. I just got lazy and reused the old text ;( Xporc (talk) 22:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Prelates=Freethinkers?

Hey man, sorry to open up a section just for this, and I don't mean to be rude (since I'm very happy that you wrote about Zandalari Prelates, my old guild's fiercest fight was with Blizzard who didn't want to recognize that Trolls would make terrific Paladins for a long time), but I believe Freethinkers and Prelates are two sides of the same coin, since Prelates work within organizations and Freethinkers seems to be closer to to knight-errants (basically badass Don Quixotes). Do you agree that they should be put in a common section? Or would it be going out on a limb?--KIROCHI) 21:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

They were actually in the same section until was pointed out that, while the Freethinkers quests were paladin-related, their background is merely that they are heathens to the common troll religions, like how when they led a rebellion against the Blood God Hakkar. So not really paladin-related. Not sure what to do, to be honest Xporc (talk) 21:29, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
So the Freethinkers' armor suits paladins well, but they aren't explicitly believers in any kind of Holy power, so they technically can't be classified as paladins. Makes sense.--KIROCHI) 21:32, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
That's what I get from the Freethinker's Armor set, yes. They fight and die for what they believe in, even if their opponent is a loa god. Xporc (talk) 21:39, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Elf

Hi, what did you mean by "also sorry but the current picture is really not how the country looks currently" ? The pic is from the sea facing inland, if you go there yourself facing inland this is basically how it'll look like, there is no Scourge effect visible at all. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 23:28, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Several things:
  • All of the buildings have blue roofs instead of red roofs, presumably indicating that the people living in the picture are still high elves and not blood elves. Similarly, all of the flying mana crystals are blue instead of green. I know that the fel crystals are supposed to not exist in Quel'Thalas anymore, but that's still how the country looks in-game
  • I don't know if the city is supposed to be Silvermoon, but if it was, half of the city should be ruins then
  • No huge elf statue in the current Quel'Thalas, as far as we know
  • The design of the towers strikes me more as a mix between night elven pagodas and high elven farms rather than the spires currently used by the blood elves
  • Trees are green instead of with golden leaves, like current Eversong Forest
For all of these reasons, I don't think this picture is able to properly convey the current look of Quel'Thalas. Xporc (talk) 07:48, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
These are fair points but they mostly fall down when you know that in-game scale and depiction prevents cities to look like they do in art both in building density and details: Chronicle Quel'thalas is a thousand time more fidel to the in-game city than Teldrassil art which is completely different in every single possible way, so removing the QT pic would be unfair, however I'll agree because the colors convey more of a high elven feeling than blood elven and that'd be a bit misleading! -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 11:14, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

worldofwarcraft.com sources

Hey, I noticed that you linked articles of the official page through webarchive. Why? --Mordecay (talk) 10:03, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

I just copy-pasted the link that already existed in the Anduin article, but it makes sense - if 10 years from now the website is overhauled once again, the content won't be lost that way. Xporc (talk) 10:10, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Creeps Dalaran

ah dang, i did forget to separate the golems into their own category, huh :p gotta up my double-checkin game

anyway, i was going for the official categories found here http://classic.battle.net/war3/neutral/creeps.shtml with "wizards" and "elementals." i suppose i'm not the best to judge flavor vs simplicity tho (very biased toward simplicity, eheh) so i'll leave it to whichever way you think is better -- Eithris (talk) 20:11, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Mh, interesting question. Maybe simplicity is better. What do you think about adding link to the category names as well? So instead of simply having "Wizards", we could have "Wizards", you know. Xporc (talk) 20:17, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
i was thinkin about doing that! i just wasn't sure how it'd look. but yeah, come to think of it, linkage is probably more important than aesthetics :p -- Eithris (talk) 20:41, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Wizard's going to be merged with Mage so I think it might look like Wizard in the end. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 20:32, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Even if the main content of the Wizard page is merged with the Mage page, the Wizard page will always stay independant, if only to keep the RPG information and list the mob named wizards. Xporc (talk) 20:39, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Definitely, just wanted to show how the link would look like. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 08:58, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Stormwind Harbor Guards

I dunno, it's nice to have a separate page for NPCs and group but maybe a lack of info is the matter here? We have Stormwind City Guard which kinda lacks canon info but it is still there. The Harbor Guards would have a mention of their involvement in the wotlk event, Darkspear visit and a list the NPCs. Do you think this doesn't warrant a separate page? --Mordecay (talk) 14:38, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Well as long as you create a Stormwind Harbor Guards page like right now, it's okay, but I wasn't sure you would do it :(
It's just that I am bothered at linking to non-existing pages when one already exists! Xporc (talk) 14:43, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Lol, ofc, I would and will. --Mordecay (talk) 14:51, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Sorry then mate. I'm at work right now and I had flashbacks about garbrit/belanal, but it's true you've never done that yourself... Xporc (talk) 15:00, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Bradensbrook Extension

Heya, so I wanted to add more details about Bradensbrook under the Bradensbrook page, such as Marl's Stead. But would these places be separate from Bradensbrook? Like their own separate page? It's confusing because it's all the same settlement. Just curious. --Dperrea (talk) 20:54, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Separate subzones should all get their own pages, eventually.--SWM2448 21:24, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Ok thank you! But is it ok if I talk about those separate sub zones on the Bradensbook town page since they're a part of the settlement? --Dperrea (talk) 21:27, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Do they appear as a subzone on the Val'sharah map? If so they deserve their own page. If they don't appear as subzones, it's probably better to keep the information on the main Bradensbook town page Xporc (talk) 21:48, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

The relations between nearby areas can be described with some redundancy, if kept reasonable. Nothing forbidden about it.--SWM2448 05:25, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Ok! That's the answer I needed but I didn't know I needed it in the first place lol --Dperrea (talk) 05:31, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Possible to reference cut scenes?

Hello again! So there's a bit of info on a page I created that states information seen in the cinematic where Ysera is impaled with a fel crystal and succumbs to the nightmare. Is it possible to reference that? I couldn't find a page on it. Or is it fine just to leave it alone?--Dperrea (talk) 16:24, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

You can reference the quest it's contained within. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 16:51, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Accidental called page wrong name...

So I uh accidentally created a page and called it The Rotting Grotto instead of The Rotten Grotto. Is the only way to fix this by creating an entirely new page?--Dperrea (talk) 05:19, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Near top right corner, you see the "More" button? You can mouseover it, and select move. You'll see a page prompting for a reason for the move, just type "Wrong name" or some such. You have the option of leaving a redirect here, but it's probably not needed in this case :) PeterWind (talk) 06:09, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
Oh lord so I moved it but the name deceived me, on the Darkheart subzone little window thing it says "The Rotten Grotto" but when I click on the link the page create says "Rotten Grotto." Should I just redirect the page to "Rotten Grotto"?--HOLY LORD AGAIN *facepalm* I just went back to double check and on the game map it says "The Rotting Grotto" so it turns out that the Darkheart Thicket zubsone window is wrong. lol 2:22am madness what do I do lmao--Dperrea (talk) 06:23, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Dungeon page questions

Hey, so I just finished pages for every location in Darkheart Thicket (because I love that place) and I am planning to complete all the dungeon pages that need creation or polishing (eventually).

1. I think I know the answer to the first question... but should the list of "Inhabitants" of every dungeon area be on the page and does a page need to be created for every mob in the dungeon.

2. Does is matter if the pictures of the dungeon areas have mobs in them or not? Is there a preference? I ask this because for all the zones in Darkheart, I was able to exit and re-enter and take pictures without any mobs and corpses. Even boss lairs didn't have the bosses but I don't know if this is sorta misleading. :I

Lastly is there any more I need to add to the dungeon are pages? The Sanctum of G'Hanir turned out pretty well c: but i'm also not sure if I should at least put the boss under and Inhabitants section or not cause I already mention him in the description. I've looked at other dungeon pages for reference but results vary. Oh well, sorry for this motormouth post. Just trying to produce the best and most comprehensive content I can for the community! --Dperrea (talk) 05:05, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi!
1.) Ideally yes, but I understand it's a burden to create all these mob pages and just having red links (aka linking to a page without having created it yet) is enough to start with.
2.) As long as there's no annoying UI elements like targeting circles, hovering names or glittering bodies having to be loot, anything is fine. Both "with mobs" and without mobs" screenshots have different values so I guess it's up to you.
If you add a "inhabitants" section to the page I think it doesn't hurt to add the boss to that list, preferably as the first member of the list!
Keep up the good work. Xporc (talk) 07:05, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
I love red links of NPCs! --Mordecay (talk) 08:23, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
So you can easily create stubs! Xporc (talk) 08:56, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Exactly! --Mordecay (talk) 10:40, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Heya, just another question. How do you cite visual information? I looked at the citation page and it said you didn't need too, but a lot of the information I got for the new Darkheart Thicket description were visual observations, and information for enemy names. I guess the information that I give seems so detailed it should have a source?--Dperrea (talk) 21:01, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, probably. What particular text are you speaking about? Xporc (talk) 21:03, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
The citation is the fact that the mob or area exists, which can be verified using the description on the page itself. Database sites and screenshots dispel doubt, but on such pages about WoW there is an implied "in World of Warcraft" citation. Inferences and flowery descriptions about an area are different.--SWM2448 21:08, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
The new paragraph in Darkheart Thicket under "Background" and above "Dungeon journal". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dperrea (talk · contr).
Careful, you deleted Sandwichman2448's comment. Also, it seems fine to me with the latest edits. Xporc (talk) 21:40, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Oh my bad! and ok I think I get it. So can I remove the citation needed mark from the page?--Dperrea (talk) 22:05, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Think so! Xporc (talk) 22:18, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Hey I got another question. So i'm trying to do all the Black Rook Hold dungeon areas right now, and alot of the links show (for example) "The Grand Sepulcher" but when you go to create it, it just says "Grand Sepulcher" even though it says "The Grand Sepulcher" on the game map. This is really confusing and I don't know what to call it in the captions and stuff, and i'd also think it'd be a bit misleading for people trying to look it up. Is there anyway to fix this, or is it a common practice to do it on the wiki like this? --Dperrea (talk) 20:05, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

See Project talk:Naming policy.--SWM2448 20:45, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Trivia

Don't like trivia? Just an example, but the trivia on deathknell I found to be very interesting especially about the names of the npcs and its relation to a band in real life. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Warcraft4k (talk · contr).

I just moved it up further in the page Xporc (talk) 11:49, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Name

Hey are these two confirmed as dragons? -- MyMindWontQuiet 16:14, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

They have the Dragonkin creature type and are linked to Timewalking, so no hard proof but I don't see what they could be besides bronze dragons or dragonspawn Xporc (talk) 17:00, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Any Timewalker ? -- MyMindWontQuiet 19:15, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Dragonkin members of the Timewalkers would be bronze dragons, yes! Xporc (talk) 19:17, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Yup I thought you maybe had something else that I hadn't heard of than the creature type! -- MyMindWontQuiet 22:54, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Sailors

How are Captains and Admirals, Sailors [1]? --Mordecay (talk) 10:28, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm using the description used on the sailor page itself: the term "sailor" generically refers to those who sail the seas of Azeroth. So ship captains and fleet admirals would match the description Xporc (talk) 10:37, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Oke. --Mordecay (talk) 10:42, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Is there any distinction between sailors and boat crew then? The definition on the sailor page seems to apply to, well, anyone on boats who aren't passengers. PeterWind (talk) 10:51, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
The boat crew category is actually about the NPCs in the various taxi boats around Azeroth. For months I put things like other admirals and sailors in it, but I often saw people reverting my edits because the name wasn't clear enough :( Xporc (talk) 11:21, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Sure, but the description on the sailor page fits with many members of the "boat crew" pages. So while Horizon Scout Crewman were obviously boat crew on the sunken Horizon Scout, they don't qualify for the "boat crew" category because they are on land, and their ship wasn't a taxi boat? I'm not sure I really see the clear lines between those categories, but if the Category:Boat crews is supposed to only be about taxi boat crew, the description should probably be updated for the category page. PeterWind (talk) 14:04, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Sure! Xporc (talk) 14:07, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Arator the Templar

File:Silver Hand Templar.jpg Source for this being Arator? He has different hair. --Mordecay (talk) 16:05, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Check the Bodyguard page. Either way, generic bodyguards don't have to be identical-looking as their template. Xporc (talk) 16:06, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Pretty sure WoD bodyguards were identical, no change in model. Not sure with Legion tho, but I am skeptical about the picture. --Mordecay (talk) 16:09, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
I took it myself brah :( Have you never noticed how the Earthcaller bodyguard replacing Rehgar Earthfury is a fel orc? Xporc (talk) 16:12, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
No, I haven't noticed. Weird. So u choose them to accompany u and they suddenly change models? And Eitrigg is a Warsong Warrior?? WTF? :D --Mordecay (talk) 16:17, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
it's part of the class leader power fantasy. To you the bodyguards will appear as who they really are (Eitrigg, Arator, Rehgar, etc.), but to other players they will appear as generic members of the class orders. That way you can think you are the only true hero running around in Dalaran! Xporc (talk) 16:19, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
I see. Ok. --Mordecay (talk) 16:23, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Short story

Hi, Silver Hand, Ebon Blade says that the short story is featured on the official website, would you know where? All I could find was the Blizzard Contest Writing website. -- MyMindWontQuiet 17:24, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

No idea, I have a local version of most of these files, I never go to the official website :o Xporc (talk) 17:27, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
U have the link of the Contest there. That's it. --Mordecay (talk) 17:30, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
The problem is that this page states that it is canon and that it was "once" a fanfiction, but a short story needs to be featured on the official website to be canon, not the contest page. Last we heard they were thinking about making it canon (https://twitter.com/MickyNeilson/status/362676924960616448) but I can't find any news on that. -- MyMindWontQuiet 17:35, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
The page says that "may be canonized" not that it is. I believe that "featured on the official site" means the Contest page not the page where Blizzard had and has the short stories. It probably needs rewriting? --Mordecay (talk) 17:39, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Yeah I was looking at older revisions. -- MyMindWontQuiet 17:45, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Northwatch Expeditionary Unit

The Northwatch Expeditionary Force / Unit is a Cataclysm thing so would Captain Fairmount be a member? --Mordecay (talk) 21:30, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Honestly I just tagged everone and everything Northwatch-related Xporc (talk) 21:44, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Guards

Shouldn't the guard category be for the special type of NPCs who are super strong guards of towns and cities? U have been adding it to regular NPCs which have the "guard" in name but do not "function" in that way. Maybe reword the description in the category if u intent to continue? --Mordecay (talk) 22:09, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Uuh probably. Not sure what to do here, considering I created the sailor category to split apart the boat crews and the normal sea people Xporc (talk) 22:12, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Hm, a distinguish for the super-strong guards would be nice, probably, but not sure if it is needed. Also, it would be helluva work... (Mordecay (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2017 (UTC)).

Artifact tomes

Hey, according to this the NPC sold the books. So if that's true, u tagging the items as removed from alpha is not good. --Mordecay (talk) 19:37, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Can someone confirm? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:39, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Theramore category

Hey, just to inform u why I added the Theramore category to some NPCs in the Southern Barrens, the reason for that is they were tagged by the invisible Theramore faction. While not seen in wowhead, some other databases have a full list of the NPCs associated with the invisible faction. So I initially thought it would be a good reason to add the category, and it seemed logical for the Barrens NPCs with the Theramore Tabard, but I ultimately decided not to do that seeing it had 200 NPCs in it and some of them made no sense (at least 2 NPCs from Andorhal and there was not a clue in the game of them being in any way affiliated with Theramore.). --Mordecay (talk) 14:19, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Man, you have access to the weirdest tools :D Xporc (talk) 14:26, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Warcraft III

No prob, glad it was appreciated :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by PIESofNORTH (talk · contr).

Hello! I'm trying to walk in your footsteps with the Warcraft III pages, created pages for every creep and all, trying to categorize everything properly... It's a lot of hard work and it's made so much easier by what you already did in your time. Do you intend to come back? ^^ Anyway, thanks again for your work! Xporc (talk) 07:18, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Starting items

I haven't played pandaran myself so I'm unsure of how that quest works. But if they are obtained during the quest, are they then really starting items? PeterWind (talk) 15:08, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Most races will start out with a weapon in hand to start with. Since it is in their first quest that pandaren get their weapon, I guess it still fits. Xporc (talk) 15:22, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Fair enough. PeterWind (talk) 20:06, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
You should try to roll a pandaren, their starting area is fun! Xporc (talk) 20:17, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
While u are on the turtle and in case u are extra bored, u could check models of the (pandaren) NPCs there. I noticed a while back that some of them don't match with those we have here (some here are from beta). --Mordecay (talk) 20:43, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
I don't really like the pandas in wow much I'll admit, but it might be nice to at least check out the island. I remember updating some screenshots for female pandaren in Pandaria a few years ago I think. Many of the beta screenshots for female pandaren were "bald" as in missing their hairstyles. PeterWind (talk) 21:14, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Yeah I'll do that, check all the NPCs and everything. Sadly the work on the Wandering Isle pages is outdated and for every hour I spend exploring/leveling, I have to do wiki things for at least 2 hours. I just wanted to relax ;_; Xporc (talk) 21:26, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Mob Abilities

Hey again! I was just curious as to when it's ok to add an abilities section to a mob? Should they only be added to dungeon and raid mobs, or are even the lamest mobs ok? Or would a link to WoWhead be sufficent enought? Thank you!--Dperrea (talk) 16:09, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello! Depends on who does the page. More information never hurts, and sometimes even the lamest mobs have interesting abilities indeed. Since NPCs are already linked to wowhead in the footer part of the page, it's probably not needed to spend too much time making the abilities list "beautiful". IMO the way I did it on the Water Pincer page is enough. Xporc (talk) 18:44, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Ok! Thanks for the clarification! That water pincer ability was really interesting btw! I think more people go to Wowpedia for lore and Wowhead information on abilities, so it makes sense not to go all out on that stuff for smaller NPCs :)--Dperrea (talk) 19:01, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, for what it's worth I personally prefer to make the ability descriptions as detailed as I can with ability IDs and icons, even for minor mobs, but that's just me. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 10:49, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Is it possible to specify when an ability is unique to a mob like put a "(unique)" after the ability. It may not mean alot, but in my opinion it's cool to know when a creature has a unique ability. It's much more interesting! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dperrea (talk · contr).

Maybe, but I think it might get annoying to check Wowhead/WowDB for every NPC ability to see if it's unique or not (especially when there are several identical copies of an ability split over several IDs and mobs), and it could be pretty difficult and/or annoying to keep the "unique" tags up to date in case Blizzard decides to re-use an NPC ability for another NPC in the future. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 11:30, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Blood elf time

No, the paragraphs should not be merged. One is non-canon and the second one is a sourceless (at least for now) rephrase of said non-canon source. When adding it back, what did u based it on? --Mordecay (talk) 13:50, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Blood elf priests definitely existed between the fall of Quel'Thalas and the defeat of Kil'jaeden at the Sunwell. Also the sentence "most of the elves became disillusioned with the Light following the Third War" --> most mean most, not 100% of them. I do not understand what you are trying to convey here, could you explain further please? Xporc (talk) 13:54, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Also Quotes of Warcraft III/Human Alliance#Priest still mentions the Light, even as blood elves. Xporc (talk) 13:55, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
It is just the wording because the same exact sentence was sourced with a TCG description. --Mordecay (talk) 13:59, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Ahhh ok. For a minute I was thinking you were trying to argue about the canonicity of blood elf priests, and I was weirded out. The wording is the same because I am lazy, it can be changed of course. But I still think that the paragraph "Blood elves and the Light" should be merged with the "Belief and practices" one, because both are talking about religion. Xporc (talk) 14:07, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
No, If u look at the sentence, priests not resorting to (liadrin's) method, and u said the frozen throne priests, well they are not a good example for that particular part of the sentence because they had nothing to do with the blood knight method (as the knights and the method were introduced years later). Clearly, belf priests are canon just the ending of the sentence is a bit incorrect with regards to the w3 example. So yeah, rewording. --Mordecay (talk) 14:26, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Vilefiend/Vile Fiend

Hey! The mount is called  [Vile Fiend], but what is the source for the name vilefiend in one word? The reference on the creature page just references the 2 word mount. Most of them have fiend in their name in one for or another but I haven't seen any named "vilefiend". PeterWind (talk) 17:16, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi. I don't want to put words into other's peoples mouths, but as you probably remember, the NPC tag was a topic of contention to begin with, and the whole template/script was put in place for you and you only, considering you were the only one arguing about the positive points of the NPC template. So I guess... probably more urgent things to do? Xporc (talk) 20:27, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

fact tag

I know what the fact tag is for, I just don't agree that information that has no source at all is worth keeping as it does more harm than good, as most users don't care to check if something written is sourced or not, for them its all the same. If you believe its from the PTR then fine, but stuff unsourced and false can end up staying. Restoring an unsourced line, once a source is found is much easier. And just to repeat, I did look for a source on google and on here, with 10 unrelated results on google and that page being its only mention. If its from the PTR there really is no need to jump the gun. --Celellach (talk) 14:23, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Well considering Jarasum does appear on the PTR, I understand your concerns, but there is really no need to get into an argument over this. Young Archimonde, Velen and Sargeras also appear on Argus, and this Jarasum thing is probably related to the same quests that gave Augari. MyMindWontQuiet is an experienced user and I trust him enough to leave the text as is as long as the fact template is here to remind people to eventually reference it when the quest will end up on the wiki. Xporc (talk) 14:30, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Like I said, if its on the PTR then my point is moot. But on a related note, it still could have been added -after- the quest itself was added to the database so it could have been referenced. --Celellach (talk) 14:42, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
I'll have to disagree with that first statement because if we did that with every bit of unsourced sentences, we'd have to delete half of WoWpedia lol. If the info is really suspicious normally we add Fact tags so they can be backed up with sources, but that's mostly it.
So yeah this information comes from the PTR, for which more sources are always added later given well the nature of PTR, and the Fact tag is mostly there for that. Normally for PTR stuff we'd add a Stub tag but there was no point to add one for 1 single sentence in 1 section that could easily be backed up afterwards. The NPC in question is still a Stub as of now. -- MyMindWontQuiet 14:47, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Quests are often added last, and sometimes never added at all. At least when adding unsourced content first, someone down the line will eventually remember create the quest page, I guess? Xporc (talk) 15:08, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
"Sometimes never added at all" U got something particular in mind? --Mordecay (talk) 15:26, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Not immediately, but it's not that rare to find red quests used as sources Xporc (talk) 15:28, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, definitely for Legion, but I think previous expansion quests should be ok, no? --Mordecay (talk) 15:53, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, you've done an immense work creating all these pages in the past few months, but red quests still exists, such as in the Nightborne and Nightfallen rebellion references. I'm sure there are more examples. Xporc (talk) 17:38, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
And I have to agree with Celellach. Putting the sentence without source was sad. Deleting half of wowpedia? What are u on? --Mordecay (talk) 15:54, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Mac'aree

I can't put this on the actual city's page but I recorded this as soon as Mac'aree opened on PTR yesterday, thought I'd share it here since other people also have your talk page in their watchlist. That's the view of Argus from Mac'aree. Azeroth can be seen behind you (so behind the camera), opposite to Argus. Mac'aree is basically between the two. https://gfycat.com/HugeWindingBeardeddragon -- MyMindWontQuiet 15:05, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Anetheron

How come he is no longer there [2]? --Mordecay (talk) 17:35, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

I don't really remember... I think he was originally listed as appearing on the Broken Shore, but when I checked wowhead and the in-game quests he wasn't there, so I said that he was there in the beta but not there anymore. I think? Xporc (talk) 17:38, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
So the data that wowhead has are from beta, then? Because he should spawn there with the other demons summoned by Gul'dan. But u r saying that he wasn't there on live servers, yes? --Mordecay (talk) 17:46, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
It's possible I missed him! I did that scenario like 6 or 7 times, by the end I was tired of it Xporc (talk) 17:54, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
U would have noticed him during those 6 - 7 runs, tho, no? :D
EDIT: right-ish top corner, if this were beta there wouldn't be the shop icon (IIRC) and the video release is after the expansion's release. --Mordecay (talk) 18:25, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Was wrong then. Xporc (talk) 18:46, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Old Image Replacement

Hey Xporc! First of all CONGRATULATIONS on adminship! When I was new to the wiki, I always consulted you for help because you seemed so helpful and logical! Well earned.

Now to get to the point. I was going to start updating some of the pages for Uldaman (the non-instanced area first) and I was going to start by updating the pictures and/on the location pages to give it a fresh look (mostly because the trogg models have been updated and that place is HEAVILY trogg oriented). Most of the location pictures currently used are about a decade old. Now i'm not saying since they're old they're bad BUT, since then there have been changes to textures and game graphics, now you can set them higher than you could then. Well anyways, would I be allowed to update those old pictures with new, fresh ones? Also I guess that goes for all old location pictures? Can those be updated in the future. Thank you!--Dperrea (talk) 22:01, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes, just try to preserve the idea of whatever screenshots you replace.--SWM2448 22:13, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Also, what SWM said: most of the times the pictures are used to represent something particular: a mural, a special room, a mob doing a special action... So be sure that when you replace a picture with a newer one, it depicts the same thing as the original! Xporc (talk) 23:42, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Well

Cragscalers

Hey, their model is called Argus Talbuk, they use 'talbuk' category sounds, they, well, look like talbuks, and they are explicitly called "talbuk" and "species of talbuk" (http://ptr.wowhead.com/quest=48455/duskcloak-problem). I don't think this is in any case similar to a visibly placeholder zone name. -- MyMindWontQuiet 15:51, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Yeah but according to Woyr they were also called cragscalers in quests. Honestly it won't hurt to wait a few weeks before reverting my changes/keeping them Xporc (talk) 16:40, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Yes they are called Cragscalers, just like in WoD some were called Silverpelts. Still talbuk though. But it's okay. -- MyMindWontQuiet 10:42, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
It's definitely possible that they ARE talbuks, but that would probably also mean that the talbuks on Draenor were brought with the draenei as they fled Argus. I think there is a lot of questions here that we simply don't have enough info to answer just yet. Hopefully this matter will become easier to solve as the testing phase progresses. PeterWind (talk) 14:54, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
It seems that Young Rakeesh had an Elekk plushie, which means Elekk existed on Argus, which would indeed mean that the draenei brought some species with them. -- MyMindWontQuiet 15:08, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Couldn't they be native to both worlds? --Mordecay (talk) 15:31, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Of course that's possible too, after all Draenor and Azeroth share many species too for some reason, doesn't contradict anything. -- MyMindWontQuiet 16:04, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

From today's patch link "Summons and dismisses your Sable Ruinstrider. "Talbuks, native to Argus, have evolved chitinous plates to survive the decades of ceaseless war that ravages the landscape.""

Ah this one (also a talbuk apparently) is interesting, for Mordecay link: ""The Army of the Light could only save so many of Argus' native species; coundless numbers were lost to chaos.""- MyMindWontQuiet 22:37, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Nice findings. Seems like a confirmation :D --Mordecay (talk) 23:19, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
Well unless they suddenly change their minds, I guess that just about seals that deal :) Although the description confuses me a little. I thought that the Army of Light only recently arrived on Argus with the Xenedar, whereas that description make it appear otherwise. PeterWind (talk) 03:29, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
Me, being in the wrong? Is such a thing even possible? Xporc (talk) 07:20, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

It's maybe something similar to Turalyon living for a thousand years? --Mordecay (talk) 11:06, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
I believe it's implying that the Army of the Light already existed back then. So all the naaru and their ships that arrived to save the draenei, that was the Army of the Light. They also took some animals with them. -- MyMindWontQuiet 12:37, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Fandral

  1. The chapter I found says that the plant was supposed to kill Malfurion but it doesn't say if Fandral was the cause of the post-Lordaeron coma. I think I made that speculation based on that novel.
  2. Also u said on the Sentinel Spies page that Fandral was a co-leader of the night elves of Darnassus, but it seems that he was not according to his encyclopaedia entry. He only led the Cenarion Circle. --Mordecay (talk) 11:50, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
Mh, okay. I feel that the lore conflict what we saw in-game then, since he was a world boss like Tyrande, so eeeh. Xporc (talk) 20:33, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
Would you say that Archbishop Benedictus co-leads the humans of Stormwind? I seem to recall him being a "??" boss aswell. I'm not 100% on the lore there so I'm not saying either or. Just as a comparison. PeterWind (talk) 21:31, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
I think, given it was during one patch as detailed on Benedictus' page, that it was an error. However, the patch notes for that patch indeed says there was a coup on Bolvar for Stormwind City. Personally, I take it as a joke, not sure if we should consider that as canon (moreover, it seems to be wrong, Benedictus should have do the coup on Anduin because he was considered King while Bolvar was... advisor or maybe regent or whatever, but still).
Or do you guys think it should be incorporated in the pages of Bolvar and regarding Stormwind as a lore thing? --Mordecay (talk) 21:45, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
I have no idea. Personally at the time I took like a joke, but since the reveal that Benedictus was actually a bad guy...Xporc (talk) 22:18, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Benedictus was briefly the Human racial leader for PvP purposes while they resolved a bug involving Bolvar and his interaction with the quest A [60R] The Great Masquerade. It was pretty obviously a joke at the time. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:44, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

If you mean Allinox, their changes largely seem to be minor grammatical fixes. I'm actually reverting several of them BACK, because they were fixing legitimate grammatical errors. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:33, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
That's always how it goes, at first he corrects minor grammatical fixes, and then he starts randomly deleting whole chunks of text just because. Xporc (talk) 21:46, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
Hm. I don't think I really looked at his edits before. That's the strangest kind of vandalism I've seen, making constructive edits to try and hide an incomprehensible non-constructive one. There were definitely some edits I didn't revert (like the Lich King one where he did exactly what you said). -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:20, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
Yeah it was like that the first times aswell. A whole lot of beneficial, if minor, grammatical fixes. And then just arbitrarial removals of seemingly random segments. Really boggles my noggin' PeterWind (talk) 22:51, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
So far the general politic was to revert absolutely everything he does, even the beneficial ones, but I don't mind keeping the good changes. Xporc (talk) 23:18, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

Sentinel Fandral

I once saw someone on the story forum criticize Wowpedia for having too much speculation to the point of fan fiction. I think this is the kind of thing they were referring too. --ShadowShade81413 (talk) 03:07, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

Mh, okay. I understand but I also disagree, speculations in wowpedia are (mostly always) contained in separate categories at the end of a page, so it's not like someone can confuse speculation and actual lore, and people putting their fanfiction in actual articles like UserProfile:VisionOfPerfection (who was batshit insane) were already removed from the community.
Now if that person you are speaking about in the first place came to wowpedia and wanted to remove some of the remaining outlandish theories I'd be okay to work with that, but I don't see the point in starting to randomly delete things to try to please people that might just be bitter and never satisfied in the end, even if we're amateurs providing a free service to the community : / Xporc (talk) 09:03, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Just thought it was something to keep in mind, because I see what they mean in some places. Anyway I don't mind if the speculation stays on Fandral, just have been wanting to point this out to other big editors. --ShadowShade81413 (talk) 14:57, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
What are those places you are thinking about? Maybe we can rework them! Xporc (talk) 18:17, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
None come to mind, would just like for everyone to keep this in mind. --ShadowShade81413 (talk) 00:17, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Question

Have u seen the new Spiderman? --Mordecay (talk) 12:46, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Nope, but the question made me laugh. Why? Xporc (talk) 13:00, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Its post-credit scene had a message which I thought would be applicable to u.
U see, I had to respond to your edits to the caretaker pages. U added the RPG section which implied that the character was mentioned in the book, but he was not so I removed it and later readded a sentence. I was gonna add that sentence to other three pages as well but u were apparently quicker... and ruuuuude. But no hard feelings, still luv u! --Mordecay (talk) 13:40, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I dropped the ball on that one. Since I'm currently in holidays in Paris I was trying to validate all the changes made in the last 24 hours, and I got stressed out at seeing even more changes made while I already had trouble with my original task to begin with :( Xporc (talk) 14:13, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Hey I was thinking maybe we should exchange instant messaging details so next time this doesn't repeat Xporc (talk) 14:51, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Sure, will try to remember that. Enjoy the holidays! --Mordecay (talk) 15:50, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, but I'm already back tomorrow :D Xporc (talk) 22:27, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Englishes

Since the items used the British spelling for years, shouldn't a redirect be kept? --Mordecay (talk) 13:49, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Eh, I'm not a fan of leaving around unused redirects, but if you think it's necessary, I shall remove my speedydelete tags. Xporc (talk) 14:13, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Yea, I noticed u don't like redirects :D Dunno, if it is really necessary, tho. --Mordecay (talk) 15:52, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Tons of "correct" page names have been deleted as unused redirects. Why change now?--SWM2448 19:33, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Such as? --Mordecay (talk) 19:36, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
In my defense, I usually leave out at least 24 hours between the tagging of a redirect and its deletion in case someone wants to keep it! Xporc (talk) 22:27, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Trask

The entry for Trask in LoC doesn't say he is a fighter, nor a mounted warrior, but a commander. --Mordecay (talk) 16:06, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

"Captain Sumner Trask, male human Ftr6/Mow4" means he's a fighter level 6 and mounted warrior level 4. Xporc (talk) 16:13, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Oh, okay. --Mordecay (talk) 16:26, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
