The Augari is an order of draenei magi that was founded thousands years ago by the eredar in Argus. The organization was comprised of the Wakeners and Consulate orders, and their seat was the Conservatory of the Arcane, the greatest school of arcane magic on the planet. Archimonde is the last known master of the Augari, but the order was recently revealed to still be active on Azeroth.

Thousands of years ago, following Thal'kiel's failed attempt to become dictator of Argus, his apprentice Archimonde eventually rose to lead the eredar alongside the Second Duumvirate and became the Master of the Augari. Archimonde was not known for his willingness to suffer indecision, he preferred to teach by rewarding frustration with more frustration—punishment with more punishment.[1] Absolute conviction was required to succeed under him, as he expected greatness from his pupils. Only the most imaginative minds, the most adroit of intellects, could ever truly fathom the deepest reaches of their magic.[2] Since their leader was an individual consumed by the pursuit of power, only those who could match his lust would fare well under his tutelage.[3]

The Sigil of Awakening, a fragment of the Crown of the Triumvirate, was the Conservatory of the Arcane's highest honor. Caring little for the power it provided on its own,[4] Archimonde used it as a reward for several trials he developed and only his chosen could pursue this accolade. Under the guard of Vigilant Quoram, who revealed that even the uninitiated could also participate, they had to accomplish the Trials of Tenacity, Cunning, and Mastery.[5] Subsequently, they would face Archimonde himself in the Praetorium, but none managed to win while he also broke their pride and tenacity to make them more humble.[6]

At the end of their education, the Augari Novitiates hoped to be selected to join the ranks of either the Wakeners or the Consulate, in order to work on domains that interested them.[7] The Wakeners were specialists in the arts of conjuration and binding,[8] while the Consulate followed the pursuit of the powers of creation.[3]

When Sargeras came to Argus and offered the eredar a place in his "kingdom", Archimonde was the first to accept.[9] High Wakener Aargon, Arc-Consul Velara, and many members of their orders followed suit.[3]

During the Argus Campaign, in order to reconstruct the Crown of the Triumvirate, Velen's expedition set off to search for the Sigil of Awakening in the Conservatory of the Arcane.[10] The mission was entrusted to Archmage Y'mera, who had once been a member of the Augari, and an adventurer. At the Conservatory they were able to reactivate Vigilant Quoram, who had been dormant for thousands of years.[5] Quoram then tasked the adventurer to undergo the three trials in order to earn the right to face the echo of Archimonde in the Praetorium. After being defeated in the final challenge, the echo of Archimonde relinquished the Sigil of Awakening to the adventurer[6] and the adventurer and Y'mera transported it back to the Vindicaar.[4]

Archmage Y'mera would later send the adventurer to investigate the lingering spirits of Augari novitiates and summoners that could be found across the Conservatory. In order to discover the reasons for their presence, and why they rebuffed the presence of the living, Y'mera tasked the adventurers to collect their essences with an attuning crystal for her researches.[11]

Recently, Augari attended the first Tishamaat in the Exodar on Azeroth,[12] indicating the order is still or once again active.
