Double redirects

Hey! First, thank you for your numerous contributions to the wiki. Secondly, how do you even check for double redirects? :o Xporc (talk) 20:02, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

yo, sure thing! thank you for helping me find my feet as a newer user. i still have a lot to learn about wowpedia's standard of style, but your guidance has been a ton of help
& it's at the top of the Category:Things to do page P: -- Eithris (talk) 20:12, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Ehh, shows that I still have stuff to learn too. Thanks! Xporc (talk) 20:14, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Friendship Bread

Hey! Nice work on the vendor information you've been adding! I thiiink the  [Friendship Bread] and  [Freshly-Squeezed Lemonade] is actually still available for those who completed the quests back in the pre nax event. I'll check on my druid next time I drop by one of the associated vendors. As for the  [Blacksteel Throwing Dagger] I don't recall that as being related to the "Document from the Front" quest. To my knowledge that one was just removed as part of how "all" throwing weapons were made unavailable with Mist of Pandaria. :) PeterWind (talk) 15:10, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

ohh, if you could that'd be awesome :0 i couldn't actually find any confirmation one way or the other on whether they were still available
& okey doke, i'll change the note on that to exclude the dagger -- Eithris (talk) 23:39, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Speculation template

Hey there! Were there any reasons for you creating template:Speculation-section? Xporc (talk) 18:35, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

i was gonna use it on a page (christoph, since it's only implied what might have happened to him) but i dislike putting template:speculation for like, one line of speculation since it's so big. and then my laptop died in the middle of editing and i haven't gotten back to him x3
if you think a smaller version is unnecessary i can just use the big one tho -- Eithris (talk) 23:05, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
Well the thing is that the already existing Speculation template is almost always used under its own section, so IMO if we want to make things better we need to change the existing template into a "-section" like template instead of creating a new one. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xporc (talk · contr).
ahh, yeah that makes sense. i figured i shouldn't mess with the established one because maybe it was seeing use as an article header - if it's not then ye, no point in having two of 'em :o -- Eithris (talk) 22:43, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Lich King world drops

What about "Northrend world drops" instead? Xporc (talk) 20:44, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

ye, that's what i was going for at first, but some of the xpacs have zones outside their main continent - like how caverns of time & isle of quel'danas include BC drops, so "Outland world drops" doesn't quite work :o
"Draenor world drops" should probably be switched to its xpac name too, in hindsight. i made the page for that one before i realized using contintent names might be an issue, eheh. even if WoD does only have like one instance outside of draenor, it's probably a good idea to use xpac names across the board for consistency -- Eithris (talk) 22:09, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
I don't mind one or the other, as long as it's consistent! Xporc (talk) 22:17, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
While I initially prefered continent names, I'll admit that expansion names make more sense, as per your reasoning. PeterWind (talk) 23:06, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
I like expansion names --Mordecay (talk) 23:09, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
okey doke. i went & moved everything that was in Category:Draenor world drops to Category:Warlords of Draenor world drops, but i can't move the page itself. if someone with the appropriate privileges could do that then i think we're pretty much good to go :3 -- Eithris (talk) 02:56, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
There we go! :) PeterWind (talk) 03:46, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Item suffixes

Hey! Nice work on the world drop pages once again :) I saw you removed a few of the suffixes, and rightly so I think, as they're no longer available. It made me think of the current state of the page for Item suffixes. I'll do some light cleaning up on that page, but it seems to me that you might have some more up to date knowledge on this area, so I figured you might have an opinion on this aswell. Who knows, you might find something you feel is worth adding to that page aswell while updating the world drops. I'd like to, perhaps, make a section on removed suffixes. I am thinking that I'd either make one "==Removed suffixes==" or just "rfg-section|patch" under the specific suffixes. I have a feeling aswell, that the page does not really have the newest suffixes listed either. In any case I'd like to start with updating the page in regards to removed stats such as hit/spirit, and see if I can't find what those have been replaced with. PeterWind (talk) 12:05, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

I started with spirit. For the Animal suffixes, it was simply switched to versatility. I suspect it to be the same for the others, but I'd like to confirm it first, as the Spirit page claims, that in some cases it was replaced by mastery. As is, spirit also appears on four of the intellect suffixes. I was not, in my brief search able to find items with all four suffixes. I found "of the Elder" and "of the Prophet". They had indeed had their spirit replaced by versatility. I was not able to find a "of the Moon" or "of Restoration". Both of those have the same stats as "of the Elder" though. Could be, that those two suffixes have simply been removed, but I'm not sure yet. PeterWind (talk) 12:46, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
As it turns out wowhead has a nifty filter for that right here! PeterWind (talk) 13:15, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
ye i've kinda been putting off the Item suffix page, eheh. it looks like it's gonna be a bear to find out which ones still exist & which don't, so i figured i might go through the list of items, gradually fill out my template (since right now it mainly just has basic suffixes introduced in vanilla), and then come back to do most of that page's updating automatically
also a "removed" section would be pretty neat! do you think items that have had suffixes removed should have a section like that as well, or would just on the main suffixes page be good? -- Eithris (talk) 18:08, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
I guess we can decide on that when/if we come across some removed suffixes. I thought at first that "of Spirit" had been removed. This turned out to not be the case however! The suffix is the same, it just gives versatility instead now. So I jumped the gun on that one. But yeah via the wowhead suffix search, I'll check what hit and expertise was changed to, tomorrow I think. PeterWind (talk) 19:31, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
i think "of [magic school] Wrath" and "of Healing" have been removed. they still show up in wowhead's search, but i'm not seeing any items in the results that actually still have 'em listed -- Eithris (talk) 14:40, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Oh yeah, you're right! PeterWind (talk) 16:20, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Models

Nice work on the models page! :) PeterWind (talk) 07:14, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

yeah! Xporc (talk) 07:20, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
thank you guys, eheh <3 --Eithris (talk) 18:08, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
Good job on the new template, it'll be better indeed Xporc (talk) 08:23, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Heya. Is there a reason you updated several cloaks such as  [Scavenger's Cloak] to display a cloak model (Cape_Mage_A_01Olive.png), but didn't uploaded the cloak model itself? Xporc (talk) 07:50, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

i just haven't gotten around to grabbing screenshots yet (distractable n all), but i figure since all of those cloaks share the same model, i can add the image name ahead of time & then take screenshots of multiple different ones at once
tho... i could also take the multiple screenshots first and then do the pages. maybe that would be better, hehe --Eithris (talk) 23:07, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Thought this was a possible mistake, so I figured I'd ask you Xporc (talk) 07:23, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Infobox

Any opinion regarding doing these? Do you think it's worth it or " | level = 3 - 20 5 - 6 (Classic) " is more sufficient? --Mordecay (talk) 09:01, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

ohh, i was thinking about that but had forgotten how to do it! for some reason the tabs are floating some distance above the infobox (at least on my end), but aside from that i think it's a great option. the only real question is one of consistency: versions or tabber? :0
i'll prob ask on the project page to see what folks in general think —Eithris (talk) 18:37, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
oh wait, i've just realized versions is only for items lmao. so that's out
anyway, i wound up asking the discord server about it. the people there are either ambivalent about using tabber or don't like the idea because it'd cause visual inconsistency, and the extra infobox could increase the potential for errors & typos —Eithris (talk) 19:47, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
These tabbers are not widely used, so far, it's meant to be for W3, I believe. It was just an idea to bring to your attention, and yeah, gotta agree it's definitely easier to write just in one infobox :) --Mordecay (talk) 21:40, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Categories

Heya, it looks like that when the category parameter is different than a zone name, then the zone it starts and ends in goes as a category. It's not always the case, as in the Pandaria Campaign quests which no one has added them, but on others it tries to be like that. --Mordecay (talk) 07:39, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

ye i thought the same thing, but then i asked about it on the discord and DTZ said to only use the "official" category--like, the header the quest appears under in the quest log o: —Eithris (talk) 15:06, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Elink quest for classic

Hey could {{Elinks-quest2}} be edited to additionally produce this table (with the classic= param) or would that require a new template? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 22:21, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

was thinkin' about doing it on the same template, but actually, i think it might be easier on the user's end to just make a new template. will get that set up in a moment —Eithris (talk) 23:12, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
kk, it can be found at {{Elinks-quest/cr}} —Eithris (talk) 23:24, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Opinion needed

Heya, your opinion on this is wanted. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 08:41, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Punch Card redirects

I checked Special:BrokenRedirects and saw the punch cards. I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do here. Do you mean to have, for example, Yellow Punchcard redirect to  [Yellow Punch Card]? Aliok (talk) 02:19, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

no, Punch Cards are old items used to access machines in gnomeregan, while Punchcards are a type of socketable item from mechagon. so punchcard will basically be like, say, cogwheel. i just didn't wind up making the page —Eithris (talk) 02:38, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Ah, that was my other thought. Thanks. Aliok (talk) 02:47, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Quests for personality section have been sourced

The quests for the personality section of Twinbraid have been sourced. GannStonespire (talk) 20:42, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

You'll need a better source about "extreme ruthlessness", as attacking Horde (or Alliance) targets is pretty much what any Alliance (or Horde) commander is gonna do Xporc (talk) 20:53, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Did you not read the quests? How many other Alliance NPCs have repeatedly attacked innocent non military targets targets? Military commanders are not supposed mass murder non military people. Your comments here feel like you're intentionally trying to downplay the character's obvious crimes. GannStonespire (talk) 21:16, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
First thing: his crimes are already properly recorded in the History section. Second thing: He's just a fictional character, he didn't hurt anybody real. Xporc (talk) 21:21, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Other minor characters have their personality noted on their pages. Second thing: he's fictional, but it looks bad to me when I see people defending him just because he's Alliance. GannStonespire (talk) 21:23, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
how about you move this to twinbraid's talk page? arguing individually with every user who disagrees with you seems silly. —Eithris (talk) 21:28, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Cremia 2000

hi remember me from Pokemon Gamepedia? i'm logged in with my fandom account. Anyway -- I got an independent domain for a possible reattempt at forking azurilland wiki (with cc-by-sa license, not cc-by-nc-sa license & idk how they were approved to switch the license like that when forking from wikia). I got a different name idea & logo too. we can use a dump as of like 2013, when they decided on the move. if you want to host it, feel free to -- I can pitch in my support & ideas because I got fresh ones after some experience with doing an independent Final Fantasy Wiki. my assumption is that you'd prob say no, but i felt it was worth a shot because Azurilland Wiki had so much potential. on discord i sent friend request (results may vary) Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 00:04, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi

Your right, I didn't know what I was thinking. Sorry.--Spenpiano (talk) 03:52, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
all good ^^ Eithris (talk) 04:23, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Its just, I saw other Kyrian pages that had the status saying "Alive".--Spenpiano (talk) 04:27, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Probably a lot of different leftovers like that from the earlier days of the alpha and beta, where it was even less obvious how to handle some of the Shadowlands peculiarities hehe. PeterWind (talk) 04:54, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
  • ahh, yeah, with so many different people working on such a big project, there's bound to be the occasional inconsistency in the way things are done. without knowing what the reasoning was for using "alive," i'd argue for changing those pages to "active" as well.
but ye, no need to apologize. this kind of back-and-forth is a normal part of the WP:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. we all make edits that get reverted sometimes! Eithris (talk) 05:01, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
I understand, thank you.--Spenpiano (talk) 05:04, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Good job on the Moonkin Form pages

Especially with the ability rank format. Honestly didn't know formatting like that is possible, I'll do that from now on. Might go back to mage abilities to do some improvements and quality checks. --Foxboy666 (talk) 23:29, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

yeah, that's totally new actually! seeing you add rank details made me realize i was unhappy with our various old formats (e.g. using hover text, putting the ranks in the body of the article, or just displaying the final tooltip & not mentioning ranks at all) so i went in and messed around with the templates to add parameters for it Eithris (talk) 23:37, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
Ah cool. The code of the template is probably beyond my understanding. I generally just copypaste and modify existing stuff as necessary. --Foxboy666 (talk) 01:53, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

hey check my account think say what shud i add next then maybe later in zooval add that zooval has son thing

Deceased

Excuse me, but this "The way Wowpedia treat souls". What exactly on earth are you talking about?"Oxlord (talk) 22:27, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

there are existing practices for how we do things; for shadowlands souls, the current practice across the wiki is to tag them as "active." if you think it should be changed, you need to start a discussion about it (probably in the forum, in this case) rather than going ahead and doing it.
& i apologize for the vagueness of that comment. i didn't mean to say you can never go against the status quo. it's more that you need to go through the process of changing the status quo for this kind of thing, so that we don't wind up with inconsistency between pages (e.g. having some shadowlands souls tagged as "deceased" and others as "active" because different editors are under different impressions about which one is right). basically, there needs to be a decision, made with feedback from multiple editors, on whether to keep using "active" for shadowlands souls or start using "deceased." Eithris (talk) 23:21, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

If so, then what about the souls end up in Maw? Oxlord (talk) 09:17, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

What about them? PeterWind (talk) 12:05, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
  • the maw is in the shadowlands so they should be treated the same as any other soul that’s in the shadowlands, i’d say. Eithris (talk) 13:48, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Template

Heyo, could you edit {{Argent Commendation vendors}} so that there would be additional support for "was" and "were", in order to avoid "gloves was" in  [Argent Conscript's Gloves] and other related pages? Thx! --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

kk, now you should be able to use "|inline=were". basically if you put a non-empty value for inline, it'll replace "was" with that value Eithris (talk) 23:29, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Real-world religions pages

Calling active admins: Greetings, Eithris. I have something to talk to you. It's about the pages: Heretic, Blasphemy, and Animism. I give them a term: "Real-world religions" pages I think it's best to get rid of them from the Wowpedia, users have been over complicating these pages. I think, like many other early pages, these pages were made when the Wowpedia was still in its early stages. When pages lacked contents, they used categories, infobox sections, and pages based on real-world philosophies to expand the contents. Nowhere days, Wowpedia have moved to fandom, the pages have gotten bigger, and details regarding any character reformation can be noted in the contents, which mades these "real-world religions" pages obsalete. What is your personal opinion about this subject? Are we going to keep them or remove them? And I already messaged the other admins about this.Oxlord (talk) 00:30, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

personally, i think those pages are fine. it would be a problem if, say, they were full of real-life info on these concepts--like how we used to have various pages about weapon types, where 90% of the page content was describing how those weapons are used in real life. but imo that's not the case for these pages. they're full of in-universe info and examples, and seem like they provide valid insight on how in-universe religions work. heck, the Animism page is lifted directly from the RPG.
anyway. i'd say it's the kind of thing that's relevant to roleplayers or people with an interest in religion. it's probably a bit niche, but it's info someone out there may find useful. Eithris (talk) 00:58, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

Two-Headed Ogre Magi citation

I just added a citation to the Ogre mage being given two heads via Gul'dan's empowerment. We can discuss more about the article and possible retcons on Talk:Ogre mage if you want? Gann Stonespire (talk) 23:45, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Kargath, Kilrogg and the New Horde

See this Talk:The_New_Horde page. Basically "many veteran chieftains" can only referring to Kargath Bladefist and Kilrogg Deadeye as well as Grom Hellscream. Gann Stonespire (talk) 04:36, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

No evidence of Talanji

You need to refrain from putting Talanji on the list of "returning characters" for The War Within. There’s no confirmation and the reference doesn’t prove anything. So like I said, please refrain. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cdcmcewen (talk · contr).

other editors do believe it's substantial enough proof. if you believe otherwise, please provide your reasoning on the talk page. and please leave the page as-is until the disagreement is settled; repeatedly changing a page to what you think is correct, while multiple other people disagree, is not an appropriate way of getting things done. thank you. Eithris (talk) 01:21, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

The proof isn't substantial at all. It only shows images from the expansion and describes the images and nothing else. The other editors can't get their facts straight. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cdcmcewen (talk · contr).

You can see her in the shot here. There's no reason at this point, for us to assume that Blizzard included her by accident. PeterWind (talk) 09:59, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

ah, that clears things up then, i think. the citation was meant to point to a specific screenshot—the one peter linked above—not the wowhead article as a whole. i had thought you knew it was the screenshot and just didn’t feel it was good enough.

the citation has since been changed to be clearer what exactly it’s referencing. Eithris (talk) 15:11, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
