Tinkmaster Overspark

Tinkmaster Overspark is a gnomish engineering trainer located in Tinker Town in the dwarven capital city of Ironforge. He also accompanies Operation: Shieldwall during the invasion of Pandaria. Overspark acts as an emissary of the Alliance for the Rustbolt Resistance on Mechagon Island, trying to discover the origins of gnomanity. He is assisted by Gila Crosswires.

History

World of Warcraft

Besides teaching Alliance adventurers, he worked with them to retrieve and fix his mechanical creation - Techbot.

Oglethorpe Obnoticus has an intense dislike for him ever since Overspark and the ruling council of the gnomes banished him for believing he released the Crowd Pummeler 9-60.[1][2]

Mists of Pandaria

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Overspark accompanied Operation: Shieldwall into Krasarang Wilds and is seen aboard the Skyfire. He is later seen in the Shrine of Seven Stars, where the Alliance dignitaries and allies discuss the pros and cons of using Sha power. He thinks that the Sha can be utilized as a new source of energy, but it is ultimately voted to be destroyed. He is also present during the Assault on Zan'vess. He now holds the title of Chief Architect of Gnomish Engineering.

In all non-quest appearances in Pandaria, Overspark also sells old schematics.

Siege of Orgrimmar

Overspark also appears with the Alliance army in the hall of Underhold during the Siege of Orgrimmar. He serves as a vendor.

Legion

Overspark was a member of the Skyfire crew during the Skyfire's attack on Sylvanas Windrunner's fleet. He attempted to establish a line of communication with the rest of the Alliance fleet during the attack but Stormheim's weather system was too strong. After the Skyfire's destruction by Forsaken saboteurs[3] and the Alliance established themselves in the Skyfire Triage Camp, Overspark created a distress signal to request Alliance reinforcements while the Skyfire survivors evacuate to the safety of Greywatch.[4] While in Stormheim, he mind-controlled a bat Mind-Controlled Dreadwing and adored him.

Overspark came to Boralus after hearing a mysterious vault had been discovered in Tiragarde. He told Gila Crosswires to cancel his meeting with Halford Wyrmbane once the Alliance emissary arrived. Overspark believed this vault belonged to King Mechagon, the last king of the gnomes, who disappeared when he and his followers went to search for a land of technology. Wanting to recover Mechagon's technology and potentially save the king, Overspark led an expedition of Archaeo-Tinkologists to the Abandoned Junkheap, while Gila took notes of the Tinkmaster's feats.[5] Once they entered the vault, the emissary aided the Tinkologists in reactivating the vault under Overspark's "supervision".[6] After restoring power to the vault, a projection of King Mechagon revealed that he had led his followers to Mechagon Island to escape the curse of flesh and welcomed any worthy individuals to come and cleanse themselves of the Old Gods' corruption. However, Mechagon deemed the expedition unworthy and began to purge the vault, vaporizing the Tinkologists. Overspark managed to disable the controls before it could vaporize Gila and acquired the coordinates to Mechagon Island.[7]

He returned to Boralus and tasked the emissary and Gila with assembling a new, smaller team for the expedition to Mechagon Island, while he sent condolences to the deceased Tinkologists' families.[8] With a new team consisting of Sapphronetta Flivvers, Herk Winklespring, and Grizzek Fizzwrench, they departed for Mechagon Island. As they approached the island, their gyrocopters were shot down, but still managed to reach Mechagon.[9] Overspark sent Grizzek and Sapphronetta to Rustbolt to prepare the locals for his arrival, but when he arrived, Prince Erazmin revealed the dark truth of Mechagon. His father, King Mechagon, had gone mad, exiling him and other mechagnomes from Mechagon City and planned to convert all gnomes into mechs to reverse the curse of flesh. Sapphronetta pledged their aid in combating King Mechagon, when Gazlowe and his crew arrived as well, pledging their support too.[10] Overspark and Gazlowe immediately began to bicker, but Prince Erazmin wouldn't tolerate in-fighting and asked they cooperate.

He then stayed with Prince Erazmin, making sure he was not swindled by the Horde. As such, he asked Alliance adventurers to collect the island's technology prototype samples. When he got them, he believed he could turn them into something useful.[11]

He was briefly seen when the heroes charged through the Island to enter Mechagon City and seemingly aided in the liberation. Once the enemies there had been defeated and King Mechagon killed, Overspark wanted Gila to mention his technical prowess in dismantling Mechagon's mechanical monstrosities.[12]

During the battle at the Gates of Orgrimmar, he was in Razor Hill in Durotar and worked with Gazlowe on breaching the canyon to the Dranosh'ar Blockade with Mine-Bot 5000 and the adventurer.[13]
