Grom'thar's group is a collection of magnataur clans in the Dragonblight led by Grom'thar the Thunderbringer.

History

Wrath of the Lich King This section concerns content related to Wrath of the Lich King.

During the war against the Lich King, adventurers were enlisted by Duane at the 7th Legion Front and Kontokanis at Dragon's Fall to deal with the snobolds that had trashed their camps while they were distracted. They complained that these creatures had been a constant plague, striking whenever the soldiers turned their backs. Adventurers were to go and slaughter the "pests" and kill any magnataur that interfered on behalf of their slaves.[1]

When adventurers came back, they were informed that another band of snobolds had attempted to make off with more camp supplies. They were instructed to give chase as the thieves scurried away. The adventurers followed the snobolds to their leaders, Chilltusk and Icefist.[2] After a brief confrontation, the adventurers slew the magnataur, who were found to be carrying Emblazoned Battle Horns. Something about the horns seemed extremely out of place on the magnataur, so the curious adventurers brought them to Wyrmrest Temple to seek out someone who might be interested in assessing the potential threat.[3]

There they encountered Aurastrasza, who, upon seeing the strange seal on the horns (a hammer and lightning bolt), remarked that it suggested an unusual amount of coordination for magnataur, who rarely put aside their aggressive natures to cooperate. She suspected they were planning a raid on a large settlement and tasked the adventurers with finding out if Bonesunder, a magnataur in the canyon northwest of the Azure Dragonshrine, had a similar horn as well.[4]

When adventurers returned with another emblazoned horn, Aurastrasza's fears were confirmed. She explained that magnataur were typically such violent creatures that they rarely gathered in numbers without killing one another. The recent evidence of them working together suggested that a powerful leader had emerged to unite them. While Aurastrasza began investigating who this leader might be, she tasked the adventurers with disrupting the magnataur as much as possible to buy her some time. The adventurers hunted down and slew three dominant magnataur: Bloodfeast, Iceshatter, and Drakegore. Upon their return, Aurastrasza revealed that while she still didn't know the leader's identity, she had discovered the name of a runemaster who would have the answers.[5]

Dregmar Runebrand was a rare type of magnataur known as a runemaster. While he was generally solitary, he was known to associate with the most influential magnataur in the region and would undoubtedly know the identity of their new leader. The adventurers tracked Dregmar to the cliffs overlooking the Mirror of Dawn. Upon being challenged, Dregmar mocked the adventurers for serving the dragons like "dogs" and warned them that they were waging war against the clans of Grom'thar the Thunderbringer. Once he was beaten enough, he conceded the information, telling the adventurers to blow a magnataur horn at a ring of torches south of the Azure Dragonshrine if they were so eager to meet their deaths.[6]

With the information provided by Dregmar, Aurastrasza tasked the adventurers with taking the  [Emblazoned Battle Horn] to the aforementioned location and challenging Grom'thar the Thunderbringer. The adventurers successfully defeated the warlord and claimed  [Grom'thar's Head] as proof of their victory. Upon their return to Wyrmrest, Aurastrasza noted that with the warlord gone, the remaining magnataur would likely return to fighting amongst themselves.[7]

Main article: Bloodmar

The Bloodmar are a massive magnataur tribe by their standards. Led by the mighty Grom'thar the Thunderbringer, this community is located in the Dragonblight. With over 50 members in its ranks, they continue to build their numbers and gather resources in preparation for making war on the other races of the world. Fortunately, it would appear that they will be fighting against the Scourge first, since the undead are the most imminent threat.[8]
