Riptide is a Restoration shaman ability. It is an instant cast healing spell that also does additional healing over time.
Notes
Similar to a druid's [Regrowth] spell, Riptide is both a direct healing spell and a heal over time spell. The direct heal and each tick of the heal over time effect have independent critical effect chances, with an initial critical heal having no effect on the healing over time component.
Being instant, the spell can be cast while moving and cannot be interrupted, which makes it a very powerful ability in PvP.
Tips and tactics
- Its low mana cost and high amount of healing done over time make Riptide one of the Restoration shaman's best healing spells. Its main disadvantage is the six second cooldown.

- Patch 11.0.2 (2024-08-13): Initial heal increased by 20%.
- Hotfix (2024-05-07): Healing increased by 10% in PvP combat.
- Hotfix (2023-09-18): Healing is now increased by 25% in PvP Combat (was 10%).

- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): No longer consumed when Chain Heal is cast on the target. Now a level 10 Restoration ability (was a tier 7 Restoration talent).
