The Obsidian Throne is located in western Waking Shores. It is the apex of the Obsidian Citadel and holds the eponymous throne. It acts as the headquarters of the Blacktalon and Obsidian Brood as they battle to reclaim the rest of the Citadel and Neltharus from the Djaradin.

Adventurers can arrive here and pledge their loyalty to either Sabellian and his faction or Wrathion and his faction weekly. In doing so, they lend support for which of the two prospective heirs should lead the black dragonflight as the new Aspect.

Sabellian and Wrathion before the Obsidian Throne itself.

Inhabitants

The inhabitants of the area are divided into two sides; one side for Sabellian and his Obsidian Brood, the other for Wrathion and his Blacktalon agents. They are friendly to adventurers regardless of their affiliation.

Notes

  • After choosing a side, both Wrathion and Sabellian will fly down into the Obsidian Citadel proper; where they can be located with some of their followers below.
    • Standing near them without choosing a side for a time will show them both debating their value as to who should be the leader of their flight, highlighting their accomplishments.
  • Wrathion and Sabellian represent vastly different perspectives for the flight. Most notably; Wrathion's followers are all mortal races and lesser dragonkin, whereas Sabellian's are almost all dragons.
  • NPCs on Sabellian's side will occasionally fly down to the battle below or temporarily be gone if they are part of the weekly suite of quests being offered.
  • Strangely, the flight master's drake is a red drake, rather than a black one.
  • Most of the amenities, such as the inn and trainers, are located on Wrathion's side.
