Oathbinder on Neltharion's hand in Legacies

The Oathbinder was a powerful artifact of titanic origin that was locked within a titan vault that Neltharion found and renamed "Nal ks'kol" in Zaralek Cavern.[1] He used its Order magic to control the dracthyr,[2] until Raszageth destroyed it 20,000 years ago during the War of the Scaleborn.[3]

Before it was destroyed, an unnamed soldier described being in the presence of the Oathbinder with the words "I do feel a unity of purpose. A connection to my kin."[4] While reliving Scalecommander Emberthal's memories, Nozdormu described Oathbinder as "the source of your unity. [It] was an ancient magic that bound you to his will."[2]

After its destruction, Neltharion put the broken Oathbinder back inside Nal ks'kol, in an attempt to repair the artifact. Millennia later, Scalecommander Sarkareth found it in his search for Neltharion's legacy[5] and used it in an attempt to take control of the Sundered Flame and unite his kin under his hand.[6] However, the millennia spent in the vault did not fully repair the artifact, it was imperfect as when Scalecommander Sakareth attempted to control all present dracthyr. All of them were forced to kneel, except for the dracthyr adventurer who was able to break through the control and attacked Sakareth. At the end of the battle, Sakareth lost his grip on the artifact, thus allowing Emberthal to smash what was left of the artifact.[6] Sarkareth was still able to find a use for Oathbinder as its remains acted as the key for him to access Aberrus.[7]
