Proposal: Instead of adding this template manually to the articles, implement it to {{Npcbox}} and use parameters for it. There are probably better ways to make this template more functional as well, such as using arrays. And of course this proposal will likely add a new task for things to do (update articles to make use of the Level template). Just an idea to actually start using something like this and better automate things. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 21:14, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

I'm all for better methods, and implementing it within the template could make things easier. One concern I have, though, is that changing it at the template level could break all of the infoboxes for removed and Classic NPCs, but if that can be addressed then it's certainly worth exploring.
Either way, I imagine we'll be doing most of the changes with a bot and then manually correcting a few outliers. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:41, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Probably best to keep the functionality available for removed / classic NPCs. Will need to brainstorm this idea and make a sandbox for this. Will notify the Discord and update here whenever I come around to that (unless someone else wants to jump on it). — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 22:25, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Why are the max-levels for most zones not at level 50?

Because these zones are scaled up to level 50 with Chromie Time / Timewalking Campaigns enabled. This template is going base off with TW Campaigns disabled. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 21:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

More specifically, they scale up to 50 only with Timewalking Campaigns enabled for that expansion. As a general rule, they don't scale to 50. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:25, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Template protection

I've set this template to be only editable by admins. Feel free to request any changes you want made. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:25, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Eversong and ruins of gilneas

Aren't they scaled up to 30? --Kandooww (talk) 20:37, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Double checking, Eversong Woods and Azuremyst Isle are indeed level 1-30. Fixed it, thanks. For Ruins of Gilneas, it is 1-20. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 22:47, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Ruins of Gilneas is level 30 (although the UI shows 1 - 20, the mobs on their max level are 30). --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 12:48, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
Corrected. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 22:17, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Spires of Ascension and Ember Court

Add spires of ascension+1 = 61

There are also unique mobs appearing in the Ember Court, and the editor toolkit loads "The Ember Court" to the level param, so maybe add support for it too? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 10:57, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

What is the level range for the Ember Court? (added the spires of ascension option) — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 22:17, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
Level is 60. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 22:35, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
I don't know that we really need a separate Ember Court parameter instead of using sl-max. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:47, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Max levels

Add Legion-max+3? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 11:53, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Hey , if one can add bfa+2 it will be grand, bfa dungeons bosses as examples for this case. :) (Yuvyuv111 (talk) 12:14, 12 May 2022 (UTC))
Done — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 12:22, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Also Maw of Souls+1 --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 13:29, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Done — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 14:05, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Min levels

Linore Erona, Slidfen, and Kraes of Eversong

NPCs in Silvermoon City scale from 1 to 50 (checked with level 1 and level 60 characters). Add this option to the template? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 08:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)

Update: Scratch that too, NPCs in Silvermoon City and the Exodar now scale to lvl 30. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 21:31, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

Category:Quests at =50

Looks like there's an extra = ? --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 11:27, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Looked like a typo for BfA quests. Fixed. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 13:23, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Level-max+3

Please add, wotlk-max+3, Tirion and Alexstrasza have level 33. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 21:46, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Done. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:51, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Isle of Thunder

Isle of Thunder appears to be 32 - 35. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 10:29, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

That'd be a very odd level range that doesn't match anything else in Pandaria. What makes it looks like that's the level range? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:26, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
The in-game level range on the world map when mousing over the zone and the level range present on Wowhead. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 18:29, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Huh. I wonder if that's something that changed in Dragonflight? Could've sworn it was just 35 before. Oh well. If that's what it says in-game, then I'll change it. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 07:11, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
Likely Dragonflight yea, an article on Blizzplanet lists Isle of Thunder as lvl 35 during Shadowlands. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 07:22, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
In addition to the below Mechagon request, also Isle of Thunder level range doesn't appear to have been updated on the template. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 08:14, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Mechagon Island

Mechagon is now 10 - 60. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 15:00, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

/bump --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 11:03, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
Also checked in the game. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 16:14, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Molten Front

Molten Front is 32 - 35. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 12:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Heirlooms

Not sure how niche we should be applying this template, but legion heirlooms that supposedly scale from "100-110" actually scale from 1-44 post squish. See Heirloom#Mythic dungeon trinkets. I'm using wowhead for reference. https://www.wowhead.com/item=133585/judgment-of-the-naaru

Are niche level ranges like that worth adding? In addition Garrosh heirlooms are 1-39 https://www.wowhead.com/item=105675/hellscreams-warmace

Chickachoy (talk) 11:55, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Could probably add a generic one that is used for most heirlooms but the ones with the different initial levels could be done manually. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 21:50, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
I think if we want to template heirloom levels (and that's honestly not a terrible idea) it might be worth making a separate template just for those, since they use different level ranges than quests or NPCs. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:57, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
That sounds reasonable. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 22:00, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Timewalking

I try to use this template as often as possible to future-proof my contributions. On Timewalking#Character requirements, there's a relevant level value I believe is simply level cap - 10, as Timewalking is evergreen and usually has these restrictions for characters leveling through the most recent content. Doesn't look like we have that as an option currently, though.

Under the "Miscellaneous" section of this template, should we add "max-10"? Chickachoy (talk) 05:16, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

I just added {{level|<max-10>}} -> 60, {{level|<max-11>}} -> 59, {{level|<all-10>}} -> 1-60 and {{level|<all-11>}} -> 1-59 for heirloom and holiday level use cases. --Kaydeethree (talk) 05:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Update needed

Could you update the following?

  • Isle of Thunder: 32 - 35
  • Mechagon Island: 10 - 60
  • Molten Front: 32 - 35
