Memory of Scholomance is a dungeon & raid achievement earned by performing a ritual with  [Eva's Journal] to regain access to the Legacy of Scholomance, a recreation of the original Scholomance that was removed in Mists of Pandaria.

Walkthrough

Eva Sarkhoff and  [Eva's Femur]

To start the secret, the  [Krastinov's Bag of Horrors] toy is required. The toy drops from the rare spawn Doctor Theolen Krastinov in Heroic difficulty Scholomance. Krastinov has a chance of spawning upon Rattlegore's death with a yell: The doctor is in!. The player attempting the secret does not need to individually have the toy — as long as some player in the party has it, the femur in the next step can be interacted with.

Note that already having the  [Spectral Essence] trinket from before the Cataclysm revamp will not circumvent the Krastinov's Bag of Horrors requirement.

Do a regular run of Heroic Scholomance, killing Darkmaster Gandling. Head to the Hall of the Damned (on the upper floor behind him) and use the Krastinov's Bag of Horrors toy (or have someone else in the party use it!), then look for a pile of bones with a brightly visible femur at [54, 76] in the southeast portion of the room. As players approach, Eva Sarkhoff's ghost appears:

Click off the buff:

Eva Sarkhoff says: Wait... You aren't the Butcher? Has the cycle of torment finally come to an end?
Eva Sarkhoff says: Come, please speak with me.

With the buff from the toy removed, loot  [Eva's Femur] from the bone pile, then speak with Eva:

Time and time again I am forced to relive the memory of the Butcher. I do not understand why you appeared in his visage, but I am grateful that the cycle has broken; even if just this once.

I fear our time is short, so I must be brief. I stashed my journal away where I thought it would never be found. If there is even the slightest chance that it has not been destroyed, it is paramount that you locate it.

Gossip What is written in your journal?

I began to keep detailed records of what had happened here. Some of the atrocities were far, far worse than the words I chose to describe them. The world needs to know, so nothing like it ever happens again.

And yet, there is still so much left unsaid, so much I couldn't bear to write...

<Eva hesitates for a moment before regaining her composure.>

Find my journal, <name>; find it and gather five candles of Caer Darrow. Bring them and something else that once belonged to me to a quiet place upstairs. Set up a site to prepare for a ritual, the rest will come to you naturally if you allow it.

Gossip Understood, I will begin searching for the reagents.

One last thing.

Caer Darrow is not as abandoned as it may seem at first glance. I suspect you may need to negotiate with the dead to acquire the candles. Take this, <name>. It is a piece of our own essence. It will allow you to communicate with the other lost souls.

Please hurry.

Gossip Thank you, Eva.

She will provide the  [Inert Spectral Essence]. Combine it with 3  [Dark Runes] and 5  [Essences of Undeath] (which drop from undead creatures in the old world or can be found on the Auction House), granting the  [Spectral Essence] trinket. If N [60D] Kirtonos the Herald was completed before the Cataclysm revamp, players will instead receive the Spectral Essence directly if it's not already in their inventory.

Head back to the Viewing Room and find two bookshelves at [45, 84] in the southwest corner. Position the camera behind the bookshelves to find and loot  [Eva's Journal].

Find five items across the Plaguelands to trade in for five candles with the ghosts of Caer Darrow. The ghosts need the  [Spectral Essence] equipped in order to be seen:

Eva's Enchanted Journal

After acquiring all of the journal, femur, and all five candles, enter the Scholomance building, but turn right (instead of turning left towards the instance line) and head north to enter the small room at [69.8, 71.8]. Use the journal to start a ritual, which places Eva's Enchanted Journal and creates a permanent portal into the Legacy of Scholomance.

Unlocks

The Legacy of Scholomance allows for the looting old items that were lost with the revamp. New additions include  [Familiar Journal] (by Marduk Blackpool in the Viewing Room) and obtaining  [Leaders of Scholomance] for killing Darkmaster Gandling and Kirtonos the Herald. Darkmaster Gandling drops the  [Darkmaster's Scourgestone] for players with an  [Argent Dawn Commission] equipped, which starts a new quest: N [1-70] Darkmaster's Scourgestone. If players don't have a working commission, they can find a  [Cracked Argent Dawn Commission] in Rattlegore's room. The commission and scourgestone are both necessary for  [Wards of the Dread Citadel] to unlock new secrets and content in Naxxramas.
