This is where the roughly cut wood supplied by the peon laborers is made usable by skilled workers for buildings, spears, and catapults. If other Orcs require specific woods for their sites, only your Lumber Mill will have the necessary workers to complete the task. When funds are directed to the craftsmen of the Mill, they can increase the quality of your spears, making them bite even deeper into the hide of the Human scum.[1]
Information
Lumber Mills are used to upgrade the attack of your Spearmen. Furthermore, the construction of advanced structures is only available once a Lumber Mill is up and running.

Notes
The computer player never researches Spear Strength upgrades during missions. There are two missions where the enemy begins with both upgrades (Spear Strength and Arrow Strength share the same memory address within the player's data):
- Northshire Abbey. Archers make good use of these upgrades.
- Medivh, though no enemy unit uses it.
Trivia
- In versions 1.00 and 1.01, Spearmen gained bonus damage from Axe Strength upgrades, making the Spear Strength upgrades pointless to research. In addition, only the first upgrade could be researched, with the second one being locked behind a Purchase Release Version of Warcraft wall. (Though if this is bypassed through memory editing, players will find the 2nd upgrade does nothing, like the 1st).
