This article contains lore or information taken from Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and/or its manual.

Garona is found in the mission Northshire Abbey. The player must rescue and bring her to the entrance of the Abbey alive to complete the mission. She is incapable of attacking and is severely low on health, so it is important to keep an escort on her, in case there are enemy units the player has yet to finish off.

Notes

  • Due to a bug, Garona uses the Human death sound while her own was incorrectly assigned to Lothar.[1]
  • Like your other units, Garona has both armor upgrades in the mission where you encounter her. She has only 5 Hit Points left, and there is no way to heal her.
  • Like with other rescue missions, if her health could be raised above 5 HP, the player would gain control over her unit. This would be dangerous to perform, since she is standing beside a Fire Elemental that she cannot outrun and can kill her in a single hit. The same also applies to the Peons scattered throughout the Abbey.
  • Garona benefits from Sword / Axe Strength upgrades, but she has no way to use them, since she cannot attack.
  • The only other way you can encounter her is by using a third-party save game editor and adding her to the army; though this is pointless as she can't do anything other than Move, Stop and die.
  • She has a gold production post of 2500, even though no structures can train/produce her.[2]

Trivia

  • In versions 1.00 and 1.01, Garona is somewhat similar to her later incarnations, but there are some notable changes:
    • She is missing a command bar, making it difficult for her to perform any action aside from.
    • As an enemy unit, she will approach player units (according to their priority), but is unable to engage them.
    • Gold cost is 100.
    • Movement speed is 64F/Tile, which is a little slower than her final speed of 57F/Tile. However, she goes from having an Spearman 's speed to a Necrolyte's.
    • Attack speed cooldown is 8F.
    • Priority is a 60, making her a super important target to eliminate.

In version 1.0, her stats. are not all that different. The biggest changes are .

  • She uses the human death sound, like in later versions, which means this bug has been around since the earliest releases of the game.
