Fargo Flintlocke is a dwarf engineer. He owns a seaplane but is not able to actually land them and hates long plane rides.[2] He also hates nature,[3] and he tastes parts to see if they are good,[4][5] so his behaviour appears eccentric. He is friends with Lowping. At some point, he tattoted a schematic onto his head.[1]
During the Cataclysm, Fargo assisted Stormwind with their attack on the Twilight Highlands, while during the third invasion of the Burning Legion he worked with the engineers of Like Clockwork on new inventions.
History
Cataclysm
During the Cataclysm, Fargo arrived in Stormwind City and assisted the Alliance with preparations for the assault on the Twilight Highlands. In the Stormwind Harbor, he was supposed to be working on siege engines, but the shipment of their parts was misplaced and scattered around the harbor. He seemingly went to pressure Supply Sergeant Graves about it, and the sergeant later asked an adventurer escorting Prince Anduin Wrynn to gather the misplaced parts up and deliver them to Fargo so that he could finish the tanks' construction. He quickly rummaged through the parts to choose good ones but soon realized he was missing powder to make explosives.[6] Fargo offered his seaplane that could make the journey into the Highlands in double-time to King Varian Wrynn. He agreed and ordered him to report to Lieutenant Fawkes.[2] He wouldn't be going alone, however. After uncovering and thwarting a Twilight's Hammer plot, and when the navy departed for the Highlands, King Varian chose the adventurer to accompany Fargo to the Highlands. He briefly contemplated ditching his cat food supplies to make room for the adventurer, but in case they would get stuck in the mountains, he decided to keep it,[7] but did ditch other supplies as seatbelts, parachutes, maps, stabilizers, and landing gear, due to poor landing skills. The two took off, and after a rocky start the plane arrived near Highbank, crashing into Fawkes' ship's mast.[2]
Reporting to Fawkes, they learned that the Horde had attacked Highbank with the zeppelin Skyshredder blasting at its walls, and Fargo was immediately ready to jump into action. Fargo quickly devised a plan, but to execute it he needed cannon powder. He found a cannon in Highbank, and once the adventurer collected the powder for him Fargo tasted it to determine its quality.[4] With everything set up, Fargo was quick to reject "Doc" Schweitzer's notion of just shooting regular cannonballs at the enemy zeppelin. Fargo explained he wanted to use the method handed down to him by his father - to blast the adventurer via the cannon, which the enemy wouldn't expect, and have them personally put explosives into the zeppelin, and Fargo did exactly that, throwing the adventurer into the cannon and blasting them onto the zeppelin along with his explosives. After the adventurer blew the Skyshredder, Fargo was moved by the sight.[8] With the threat thwarted and the fort restored, he sent the adventurer to talk to Kurdran Wildhammer, while he went to scout out the beach beyond Highbank.[9]
Arriving at the Twilight Shore, the Highbank soldiers and the Axebite were locked in battle there, and Fargo was there, observing and insisting there should be more artillery. The Alliance steam tanks had to be pulled out and were stuck, and Fargo wanted to repair them, so he sent the adventurer to smash the Horde shredders.[5] With the parts collected, he asked the adventurer to find a tank and its commanders to have the tank repaired.[3]
Fargo later helped attack the forces of Ragnaros at Sethria's Roost in Mount Hyjal.[10]
Warlords of Draenor
During the war in Draenor, he was recruited by Lysa Serion as an Alliance follower of Lunarfall's commander on alternate Draenor.
Legion
Right after the Battle for the Broken Shore, he may appear as a Weary-Eyed Mourner in Stormwind Keep.
During the third invasion of the Burning Legion, he was working with the engineers of Like Clockwork and went to Azsuna. When Didi the Wrench started working on Reaves, she sent an adventurer to gather parts for it and directed them to work with Fargo, which should also keep him out of trouble. At Felblaze Ingress, he offered to help gather the demonic parts[11] and directed them to look near the demon portals. He was also excited about what Didi was fixing.[12] He knew about Hobart Grapplehammer‘s excess guns, and Fargo had a plan to use them – to put a headgun on the head and test it in on fel-tainted critters.[13] With the parts collected, Fargo sent the adventurer back to Didi and told them to greet her with a slap on the back, and the adventurer obliged.[14]
Hobart then sent Fargo to Val'sharah with enough bullets, but after a while Fargo ran out of them and requested more bullets, so Hobart sent the adventurer to deliver the additional ammunition to Fargo near the Wildwood.[15] There, he tasked the adventurer with killing Shimmering Oleanders using his Gunpowder Charges.[16] He revealed he had used up all the bullets on his new invention, the Deployable Bullet Dispenser, which he deployed in Moonrest, so he sent the adventurer to collect its parts. For their help, he wrote down schematics for his inventions and gave them to the adventurer.[17]
Hobart later sent him to Stormheim to gather glass trinkets from murlocs for his invention, and he hadn't been back for days. Hobart was not worried about Flintlocke; he was worried for Stormheim. When the adventurer found Fargo in Morheim, he was ready to stir up trouble.[18] He explained that he had approached the local Bilgefin murlocs diplomatically, but since he didn't know Nerglish he just ended up shooting at them.[19] Except for the glass for Hobart, he wanted to obtain the murlocs' shells for his own designs. He intended to join the adventurer, but he did not, and the hero was able to obtain both,[20] after which he sent him back to Hobart, thinking that the goblin liked the adventurer more than him.[21]
Later, Hobart sent Fargo to test out several new inventions near Oceanus Cove in Azsuna.[22] He arrived with his friend Lowping, but the gnome was captured by naga.[1] As he was testing testing Hobart's flight pack, it exploded, its parts blasted into the water, and Fargo to Lithduin Reef.[23] Fargo then requested with Hobart the adventurer be sent to aid him.[22] He explained the situation, and to kill two birds with one stone, Fargo handed the adventurer Hobart's Prototype Gunshoes to test out, while collecting the parts of the gunapck. He was glad to have them collected; otherwise, he would have to blow up the Isle of the Watchers.[23] Even though he now had the parts, he still needed gunpowder. He hoped that the nearby shipwrecks would contain cannons.[24] He didn't forget about Lowping or the schematic tattooed onto his head,[1] so he sent the adventurer back to Oceanus Cove to find the gunpowder,[24] Lowping's schematic,[1] and enact vengeance upon the naga slavers for capturing his friend, while he stayed guarding Hobart's items.[25] With the powder retrieved, he made adjustments for the gunpack[24] and realized that, except for Lowping's schematic, he should have worked on rescuing him too.[1]
Despite this, he was ready to head back to Dalaran, but sent the adventurer ahead, telling them not to mention the failures of this trip to Hobart. The adventurer seemingly didn't say anything bad, and as a reward for success with the gunshoes and gunpack, Hobart updated Fargo's schematic for goggles. He described the original plans as crude, requiring many materials.[26]

Notes and trivia
- His colleague Didi the Wrench warned the adventurer NOT to let him build anything. Considering that Didi is a goblin engineer of all people, attests to the likely quality of his creations.
- During the Warlords of Draenor beta, he was named Fargo Hammersmith.
- He is based on the main character from Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth, and his creator, former World of Warcraft Lead Quest Designer Dave "Fargo" Kosak.[27]
- There are four items named for him:
[Flintlocke's Piloting Pants],
[Flintlocke's Chuckshooter],
[Flintlocke's Woodchucker], and
[Flintlocke's Blasthammer]. He sells the Blasthammer on the Black Market Auction House.
[Fargo's Deployable Bullet Dispenser] and
[Gunpack Parts] are Legion beta items, seemingly planned to be part of his engineering quests.
- Fargo is voiced by Terrence Stone.[28]
