Egnion was the leader of the black dragonflight's Shadowscales.[1] He spent most of his time afield spying on the Primalist forces.

He delivered a report to the Seat of the Aspects that the Dragon-Queen's longtime friend Vyranoth had been spotted in the company of Raszageth the Storm-Eater, an act which Neltharion apologized for as the Shadowscales should have delivered it to her in private.[2] He also delivered reports to his Aspect about the numbers of the Primalist forces and failures to solidly prove that Iridikron was responsible for increased seismic activity in the Broodlands. When obsidian scales were located at the sites of attacked mortal and tarasek villages, Neltharion put Egnion in charge of efforts to identify the dragon who had shed them.[1]

Egnion disagreed with Stelegos' belief that they might have found a way to coexist peacefully with the primal dragons.[3]

During the Primalist assault on Valdrakken, he was put in charge of relaying information about Primalist movements during the battle, and reported Iridikron's arrival on the battlefield outside the Vault of the Incarnates.

Prior to the Battle of Harrowsdeep Egnion reported to the Aspects that over thirty dragons had gone missing in the vicinity of Wyrmrest Temple and that the Shadowscales believed they were being used as shields in Harrowsdeep to prevent the black dragonflight from utilizing their dominion over the earth to destroy the subterranean keep. Neltharion put him in charge of locating the hostages, an order which was reiterated by Alexstrasza during the Battle of Harrowsdeep.[4] Unbeknownst to them, a number of the prisoners had already been freed by Sirigosa.
