Dispersion is a Shadow priest talent.

Notes

  • Dispersion pacifies the priest for the duration. It is therefore not possible to attack, cast spells, or use most abilities during Dispersion.
    • It is possible to use certain physical abilities during Dispersion, such as [Darkflight] and [Rocket Jump].
    • Additionally, players can drink, eat, mount, dismount and use trinkets while Dispersed.
  • Dispersion cannot be dispelled or removed by enemies.
  • Like most damage reduction effects, Dispersion does not reduce fall damage. However, Dispersion can be used while levitating.
    • Note that [Levitate] is removed upon damage taken (including periodic damage) and cannot be re-cast while dispersed.
  • Dispersion does not cause the priest to drop battleground objective items such as the flags in Warsong Gulch.

Improvements

  • [Intangibility] - Reduces the cooldown by 30 seconds and restores 50% of the priest's health over the duration.

Tips and tactics

  • While Dispersion provides immunity to snares and roots, it does not prevent other crowd control effects such as stuns.
    • In PvP, opponents will often stop attacking you when you are Dispersed, but may also CC you to prevent you from fleeing.
  • In Raiding, Dispersion is a very powerful cooldown, as it is one of the very few abilities that allows a single player to "soak" lethal boss abilities that often require two or more players.
  • Dispersion can be used while mounted. This can make it particularly useful for escaping ambushes when mounted, as priests can use Dispersion to survive attacks and swiftly ride away, outstripping their unmounted attackers.
