Blackrock ore is a nearly indestructible ore native to Draenor.[1]

Source

Blackrock Ore is gathered from mining Blackrock Deposits and Rich Blackrock Deposits on Draenor. This ore is used by many professions to craft Warlords of Draenor recipes.

It can also be created by combining 10 Blackrock Fragments.

History

Blackrock ore is the remains of the colossals that sacrificed themselves to stop the Evergrowth. Their suicide attack to kill Botaan sent pieces of their bodies across Draenor.[1]

The Blackrock clan were the first orcish clan to learn how to smelt their namesake ore.[2] The Blackrock orcs' unique ability to smelt the black ore, a substance so dense that ordinary flame does not even soften it, has always been their most closely-guarded secret.[3]

The clan originally used the naturally occurring elemental-fueled infernos of ancient Draenor to shape and harden the ore. They later invented the elemental bellows, which a shaman could use to channel the power of a fire spirit directly to a blast furnace, allowing the Blackrock to set up forges anywhere.[4]
